Mud flying; tempers flaring

For several weekends in January and February those who headed south of Zebulon on Highway 19 couldn't miss the hundreds of people gathered around a large puddle of mud, cheering on those who dared to drive their vehicles through it. It's called Ron's Pond and it caters to the sport of mud bogging.

I personally THANK Mr. Snowden for everything him and his group of friends and family are doing for Pike Co. It is providing good entertainment and revenue to the is small town.

I think that some people are afraid that if the boggin' biz gets too big, there will be no where to build any more churches on this stretch of road.

Where else can you go in PIKE county on a saturday or sunday and have good time. Have all the people that are complaining loosen up a bit and enjoy themselves. They might be suprised and actually have fun if they would check it out. As bad as everything is with the economy, this event allows you to forget about it (the economy), if just for a little while.

I know you are right about churches. Are they trying to build one for each person in today's world? And banks? That can be the wedding gift of future generations. The new dowry, so to speak. "Congratulations son, here is the deed to your church and bank, now go forth and multiply."

WHAT or WHO is it hurting? This is just good clean fun-No alchol is allowed & does not open until after church is out.PLEASE tell us what is Mr.Ron hurting? He pays his taxes just like everyone else-Where else can you take your little ones to play in the dirt & let them enjoy the outdoors~along with mom & dad having just as much fun~that's the problem~the one complaining doesn't have anything else to complain about so bring the GROVERNOR in on it. Bring MR. SONNY PERDUE on down to RON'S POND and we will show him how GOOD OLE COUNTRY PEOPLE have some GOOD OLE CLEAN FUN~Bet cha he will leave with a smile on his face. THANK YOU MR.RON!

I dont know whats wrong with all the people who dont want this man having a mudd bogg. The last I heard this was the land of the free. So let this man do his thing and leave him alone as long as he doesnt break any laws. I have been mudd boggin for some years now and have thought about quitting. But when I see and hear the fans cheer for me I know that I have made someone happy and forget about all their problems at least for the moment. So leave these people alone and let one and all, old and young have some fun in Pike County.

I don't see where it hurts anything BUT I didn't see where Centerfield having a ballfield and track hurt anyone either but look what the "Citizens" of Pike County put them thru!!! Go Figure!

That's the problem. He is breaking laws and now has three citations to prove it. This operation has NO business license, NO permit, NO ok to sell food. You can't even set up a fruitstand without a permit and a business license. Ron presents himself to the public as someone who will thumb his nose at the law now, even though he serves on the BOA, so what will he do when and if he is given permission? Will he abide by those rules? The record so far makes him look bad. So he's not off to a good start. The rest of us who pay taxes (yes, this is income source for Ron) don't appreciate others not playing by the rules and not doing and paying their fair share.

hey look i got out to rons every weekend he has it and i help out would u rather us take our mud trucks out on dirtroads and tear up dirtroads and yall have to keep putting gravel down or would yall rather ur go out to rons and not tear up dirtroads

I THINK IT'S A GREAT IDEA! JUST BE CAREFUL AND MAKE IT ALL LEAGAL, MY KIDS LOVE IT AND THERE'S NOT MUCH TO DO HERE IN PIKE COUNTY.
