Pike County Manager Steve Marro will interview for a city manager job in DeBary, Fla., later this month according to The News-Journal of Daytona Beach, Fla. The DeBary council chose Marro and four other candidates for the job from more than 80 applicants and submitted their top choices based on a point system.

No one will know what we have until Marro is gone. Even the CAVE people will want him back in short order. Marro, besides being fairly good at what he does, is a known quantity. Think of our past experiments with the position and the dismal failures that came with them. Someone new will his the "reset" button to our expense. This should be a fun set of comments! Bring it on CAVEs!

Be careful what you wish for. There are many who would find fault with anybody in that job. Is Pike County ready for the "big" time? I don't think so and I, like many other citizens, want this County to stay rural with quality schools and quality of living. For those that think your property taxes are going down if we bring in industry and more businesses; dream on!

Suspect he was planning on leaving when his contract expires in May either way. I would like to see the resume he sent--bet hew as Planning Director, Fire Chief, Public Works Director, In charge of building fire stations and on and on.

People in this county will never be happy about whats going on in the BOC no matter who gets there unless of course, it is Carol Bass. She can balance the budget!

For all you people out there.... You know he isn't happy in Pike County and would much rather have some "real" people to work with. I truly hope he gets this job in Florida and goes on with his life. And I truly hope you people get exactly what is coming your way!

Please DeBary Florida Council bring your Carpetbagger back home to sunny Florida. I hope Mr. Marro put me on his application as a reference. As a service to Pike County I will pay for his bus ticket to do the final interview. During your hiring to MAKE IT HAPPEN and to MOVE YOUR DeBray FORWARD could you use a District 2 Commissioner, Pike County Attorney, 5th Grade Planner and a Clayco Lt. PikeCo Fire Chief?? Marro can really do you a service with a little help from his friends. Don Collins did it to Pike County now it is your turn DeBray.

I wish Steve the best of luck. We know what we have in Steve or as stated a known factor. Starting over will be hell, because the list of wanta be's will be very long. We will be interviewing the young upstarts using Pike as a stepping stone to bigger game, interviewing older ones that have bounced all around leaving problems behind and so on. The BOC will do their best I'm sure, but the Pike CM job will be hard to fill with a qualified proven CM. We will probably end up with someone doing OJT and here we go again with complaints and disatisfaction by the citizens. The new CM wil go thru the 18 month-2year learning curve to be back where we are now and the never ending cycle. Just my thoughts, been there do that.

Oh you left out a whole bunch. Will he take his Bar-B-Que Queen Code Enforcer with him or will Roosevelt Willis put the brakes on that? What will McLeroy do now, go out of business? What will Zebulon do now without the historic Marro Bed and Breakfast? Can Parrish Swift sell Chunky Well Water to the citizens of DeBray? Population 16,500 might buy it since 82% are Snowbirds.

Save Pike County! Call DeBray Council Members and give Marro, Dawn, Sandy and Parrish a Thumbs Up!

David, I think Marro will take Parrish Swift, Roosevelt Willis, Don Collins and Dawn Danielson with him. Until I see a for sale sign on the Mayor of Lovejoys home on Hwy 18 Pike County he will probably remain.

We all must remember it is not over until the fat lady and midget sing.

That certification is controled by ACCG. The final class for Mr. Marro is not scheduled every year, rather when ACCG feels it can fill the class. This was reproted to the BOC in case you missed (not unusual). The class is offered this year in March.

Pike County population 16,500. I hope Pike fire chief Danny Henderson. We need a fulltime paid fire chief or firefighter with the one firehouse. Not all firehouse. Iso, from 2 to 1.

Lamar County population 18,600. Yes a fulltime paid firefighters with all the firehouse manned 24 hours and 7 days. New Lamar County fire authority. New fire station. New engine and ladder truck. New Iso, from 6 to 4.

You know John, you are right. No matter where you live or what you have for politics it always sounds better elsewheres. Look at what Steve has done before you, (look you hired him)
Just wants the best for the county...no one likes change...guess what, the future generation is gonna change it no matter if you want it or not. Higher taxes, less services really hurt and you can't do anything about it but let it happen or there will be such a war that God will not forgive. Pity all you god loving people that are wishing steve the worst!

Gotta buck up people...do you really think you are gonna put a county manager in there that you agree with. In our town, we get rid of them anually. Whats the matter with you? you wanna grow so your taxes stay low, or stay like you are and you pay high for all your services.....Be real, the next generation will pick the taxes low.

You don't have a clue. ISO will never be a 1 or 2. It is questionable where it will be going. ISO has been asked to release the documentation that PCFD submitted to get it lowered. Nothing in PC has changed as far as fire service. Yes a little bit of water and some equipment. The replacement of trucks and new stations don't matter. They were already in place. ISO's biggest quirk is: training, training, and training. If that was penciled whipped then there is a problem.
PC is doesn't need paid personnel. You all complain now about high taxes now!!!! Go figure.

Don Collins brought him up here to be Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce. Push him for County Manager and when all else failed Don said all he needed was a little "tweeking." We are "tweeked" out with Marro and Collins.

County Manager said he found $30,000 "in cash/greenbacks" at a county office in a brown papersack. He said this in a BOC meeting and it was reported in the news. Pike citizens need to see the deposit records on what happen with the $30,000. There is no difference between a former director of recreations and county manager director accounting for money on county property.
Do the right thing and give the $30,000 in cash/greenbacks back to our citizens.

It appears the DeBary Council and City Manager Kassandra Blissett have come to terms on her continuing education and she will now accept the position. Mayor Garcia wants to avoid negative controversy on bringing in a outsider who was fired from his position in neighoring Flager County. Looks like DeBary will save $7,000 moving expense since Miss Blissett is home grown.

The City of DeBary Florida says it will pay $7,000 for relocation. Marro can put the $30,000 in cash/greenbacks with it and buy himself another great white whale. Roosevelt is giving him a freebie to move him in a dump truck. Henderson will move the rest of his stuff in a firetruck. Only in PikeCoClayCo

DeBary does not come under Marro's Gag Order rule. They are all ears and appreciate the back issues of the Pike Journal Reporter sent to them. The one I like is his hiring of a fired bad check writer as Department Head Director. He hired her to be his yes woman, make it happen. Poor lady lived in her car her first 2 weeks in Pike County.
