A one-vehicle crash Monday night on Highway 109 near its intersection with Mountain View Road killed a nine-year-old boy and injured five other juveniles and the driver.

Bradley Shinkle, a third grader at PCES, died at the scene.

I passed the wreck that was on the intersection of 109 and Life Spring. My heart goes out to the party with the loss (...and so close to Christmas) Driving in these conditions is NEVER a good idea.

So tragic... I hate rainy nights...I have teenage drivers and I would rather them stay out all night somewhere dry than come home and drive in this mess..

THE WRECK REFERENCED IN THE PICTURE WAS ON HWY 109 BETWEEN MT VIEW AND SMYRNA CHURCH. THE ONE ON HWY 19 AT LIFE SPRINGS WAS THE DEPUTY. WE SAW THE ONE ON 109 W FROM BOTH SIDES AND PIKE COUNTY FIREFIGHTERS AND EVERYONE ON SCENE NEED TO PAT THEMSELVES ON THE BACK. EVEN THOUGH THEY NEVER WILL... ITS A CALLING, NOT A JOB... WHAT WE WITNESSED THEM DOING WAS SOMETHING AMAZING THEY WERE WORKING VERY HARD. GOD BLESS THE FAMILY DURING THIS TIME OF NEED. EVERYONE SAY A SPECIAL PRAYER AND KEEP A CIVIL TOUNGE DURING THE COMMENTS PLEASE. THIS IS DIFFICULT FOR ANYONE TO HANDLE.

Please pray for this family. Only God knows the reason for this tragedy, and this family is definitely going to need Him during this trial. I hope we all remember to love our families and cherish each day with them, and most of all, please be sure when God calls you home that you know WHERE He is calling you to.

Does anybody know who this was? Was this a child from the elementary school? I have kids that go to the small schools and am worried because they have many friends. God bless and hold them all. Please everyone say a very special prayer for them tonight.

Please keep all the famlies that children were invloved in this terrible tragedy, and also for the lady driving the car. I understand she had her children and grandchildren with her. Our prayers and thoughts go out to the family that lost their 10 year old son. This is so heart breaking. Never forget to tell your love ones how much you love them. We never know when something like this could happen.I was told tht the child that died went to Pike County.

I know the name of the child, although I don't know the family. I'm afraid to reveal any names on here out of respect for family members who may not have yet been notified. However; I do know that it was a child at the Elementary school and I have heard that they have already taken measures to have counselors available and prepared tomorrow. My prayers and well wishes to the family.

the report says 1 vehicle the report i got was 2 vehicles i too know some of the family involved good people please keep them in your prayers yeah you realize when something like this happens just how much we need to quit complaining about our little problems and be thankful for the loved ones in our life

I feel so bad for the teen driver and the family of this child. How horrible for this to happen to so many teens. I hope all the kids injured make a quick recovery and I will be sending prayers up for all!

Going to Molena right as you pass Mt View Road. I hope they update soon on everyone else involved. I have a child in 3rd grade who is going to be upset. Kids are kids. They can be mean and say mean things but when they hear of things like this they all feel saddened. Im glad the school will be prepared to handle this. God Bless the family and hold them close in their time of loss. Where did it say it was a teen driver? I havent seen nor heard that yet.

I know this family very well.
I just talked to the mom which is the grandmother to the little boy who past away and this family needs prayers from everyone.
These children were headed to church to practice for a Christmas pla.
All of the children involved were seriously injured,however two of her sons were treated and released,once again please pray for all of this family.

were thety wrecked at is such a bad place it has been the 4th wreck right there it happend in front of our house we didnt know what quite too do but we tried our best we are so very sorry for the loss...please let us know about the other family memebers we sat with them for as long as we could untill someone came. my family was there with them right when it happend and we cant sleep it was so awful so i cant imagine how the family must feel. i tried my best too help the best way i knew how im so sorry it wasnt enough :( "god bless you all"

Hey everyone, I know that family will really appricate these kind words. The other children are doing well as can be expected. The are still several that are still in the hospital but at this point all others are stable. As far as young man that lost his life, well not much can be said except, he was entirely too young. I feel fortunate to have been apart of his life and share many hugs and kisses with him. My heart goes out most to his siblings who have a very hard road ahead of them. His father who has had a hard enough life. Finally his mother, J, who loved him whole heartly from the beginning and was an incredible mother to him. RIP B

passed by this spot around 5:35 yesterday evening just before it happened, and later last night i passed the wreck ...couldnt have imagined this being the outcome. i most certainly will have the family of bradley in my prayers. i have yet to see a clear statement as to the name of the driver or her relationship to the child; however and whoever, it is going to be a long, hard road for her as well. i cant begin to imagine what she is feeling and going through right now. she should know that it could have happened to anyone, and its not her fault. i pray that the family, as well as the driver, can and will seek the help and guidance of our Lord and Savior during this aweful time. ill also be praying for a full recovery for each of the other passengers who were injured. God bless y'all, and please continue to stay safe during messy holiday weather.

i remember the times when lil brad was on the bus and he would jus talk and talk and i remember his lil sister and the way that they where so cute talking to each other and brad always said the cutest things, i will miss him very much and i hope that the family is doing ok. if u guys r reading this i jus want u to know that i love u guys and u know how to reach me and my family if u need ne thing ever. i cant imagine the pain that u guys r feeling right now. all i can say is that i know it seems like there is no reason to go on and u jus wanna give up at times but take it from someone who has been there.... it will get better in time. i love u guys and i will b praying for u and ur loving family.

I am so saddened by the passing of this sweet little boy that turns out to be my neighbors son. Please pray for the family and keep them in your thoughts and prayers. It is always hard to lose a loved one but it makes it harder when it is someone so young and so close to Christmas. The one thing that helps me is to know that this beautiful boy will spend Christmas with our Lord Jesus Christ.

All that has been identified with Gracie is that cuts and bruises. They are still waiting on blood test results and chest x rays.

I can't believe this happened. My step sister came in and told me. I was in so much shock I couldn't even cry. I'm friends with that family. I talk to them every day. I ride there bus. I can't believe Bradley is gone.
Please God, help all of the others get better. Bradley, I'm going to miss you. I love you!

I spoke with Mrs.Bugh this afternoon she is Bradley's grandmother.
Bradley's viewing will be Thursday night from 6-8 at Moody's funeral home and the funeral will be at 2:00 at Molena Baptist Church.
Linda,Christopher and Gracie are at Eagleston and Kristina is at Atlanta Medical.
They all have very serious injuries and this awesome sweet family need all the prayers that their friends can pray.
Janet is one of my Angels,she is always there when you need her and she is always willing to take that extra mile for a child. Between her and her husband and other family members they are doing the best they can during such a tragic time. Please pray for all.

Janet bugh is the grandma of bradley and two others in the car. And the mother of the other four kids. Her family need s the support of everyone. She is a bus driver and a teachers sub. She always puts our kids first at the school. So please everyone support her family and this time of need.

My brother is married to a member of the family affected by this terrible tragedy...I am far away and cannot get home to see how everyone is doing...but all of the prayers and comments I have read on this website are very sweet and precious. Please continue pray for everyone as they have a long road ahead of them. Some of his family came too our home today and my family and i did not know this family but we did our best anyways. We herd the boom and my dad was up there first and then me and my brother and mother we all went in seprate directions because they were all past out and i sat with little bradly holding him and all i could do was pray. My father had grace and my brother was with linda and my mother was with christina. As far as we know right now they will all will be able too come home tomorrow. I know how i feel so i never in my wildest dreams could even start to imagine how the family feels. Just keep praying. God says were two or more are gathered your prayers shall be herd.

I was in the emergency room the night of the accident, with my Mom. I felt so sorry for all involved and little "Gracie" was so brave. She looked so tiny on the stretcher, alone. The paramedic was really comforting to her, God Bless Him. I knew I didn't have a right to go talk to her, but the "Mom" in me was crying out. I don't know the family or those involved but I do want them to know that there are many of us out here praying for them. I am so thankful they have their faith in God to depend on at this time. May God put his comforting arms around you!

Hi to everybody and thank you all for your heart felt comments, I am a family member and just want to update everyone. First of all everybody in the car WAS wearing seatbelts and this was just an unavoidable tragedy. Gracie and Christopher are at this time in the process of being discharged from the hospital.There are still two young ladies in the hospital they are pretty beat up but are physically doing ok and should be fine after a little recovery time. There has indeed been a fund set up at United Bank so people can help the family.I would like to thank Rhonda Harwell and Angela Blount for their help. Thank everyone for their support and prayers.

He was wearing a selt belt. On impact, the seat broke lose and ejected him from the vehicle.

Im so sorry for you loss! I did not know little Bradley or his family but my heart goes out to them and to all his little friends at school, I to have a third grader and i cant imagen what you are all going through I am so so sorry! every time i think about whats happend i cant stop crying my heart hurts for you all, i am praying for you but at the same time i cant stop asking GOD why he let this happen. last time i checked a Ford Expedition, Which I believe is what they were in, has a third seat and can hold up to 8 people. No since in picking through, this Family is in pain in more ways than one and Simply needs your prayers.

AMEN!! No one will ever be able to understand this. At this time everyone needs to keep their comments to themselves unles its a prayer or a comforting thought. this family has enough unanswered questions. they dont need new ones introduced. Let them grieve and take it all in please. To everyone who keeps asking where was GOD.. HE was there holding his hand and explaining it all to him. HE was holding his spirit and letting him know that HE does love him. I dont know the family but from what I have read here and on the barnesville paper they are wonderful people. My family says a prayer from you every night. This wont be easy but GOD will help you through in time. There are no words that myself or anyone else can say to comfort you or take away the pain. I am good friends with his grand mother Janet Bugh. I just left the funeral home and this little boy was so beautiful.
You could tell he was a happy full of life little boy and that he was so loved.
Janet,Chris,Kristina,Linda,Gracie,lil Chris,Brian,and Steven my prayers are going up for you all right now and forever.

As a single parent father also in pike county ,as my son is in the 4th grade at the elementry school ,I cant imagine what he's going thru ,We have to fight hard enough in the court system to make it possilble to keep our kids,and to lose them this way is not fair ,I cant imagine ...Friday at school we sent in extra money for hat day as a donation to the family ,as a single parent father I reach out to you ,keep your head up although Its not fair ... my rayers are with you and your family ..you are a HERO !!

I would like to give my deepest sympathy to Bradley's family. My family lost a small child of our own (4yrs old) last year and it's really unbearable but I just want to tell you to have faith and trust in God and he will see you through. May God Bless the family, Our community and Our school.
