Emergency personnel rescued an engaged couple from rain-swollen Potato Creek Wednesday afternoon.

no. our reporters asked the rescue people at the scene what was going on. they ignored the question and said a press release would be issued tomorrow but we don't hold breaking news for press releases.

THE MAILBOX IS SO BLURRY YOU CANT EVEN READ THE NAME. NO HARM NO FOUL... THE PAPER IS JUST TELLING THAT PEOLE ARE GETTING STUCK IN THE RISING WATERS.ITS A STORY. SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED AROUND US. NO BIG DEAL MY GOODNESS QUIT BELLY ACHING AND LET THEM DO THEIR JOBS. GOD BLESS THE ONES WHO LIVE THERE AND PRAY THAT THE WATERS GO DOWN.

I am one of the two that were rescued. We are safe, and doing fine now. Yes I agree, the people in Pike County need to know how dangerous the waters can be. We were not aware or did we think that we could be stuck out in the water. But we did. We are very happy that they are warning other people by telling what happened to us. What if it was a child who decided to do something like that? This experience has taught us to be more careful. And we do not want our names released correct but at this point that no longer matters. Print whatever you guys want...But at the same time no one will understand why we even went down there unless they get it from us. Junebug, I agree with everything you said except for the names..Even though our names were not released it tells you how to get to Plantation Road and it also tells what house it is as well. Mr. Geiger, I do not agree with that. With that being said I don't have any complaints. Keep on warning people by doing your job. That's the only thing that can be done. Also Mr. Geiger I will email you shortly for your newspaper article tomorrow. Get it from me...Not anyone else!! THANKS MR. GEIGER!

I am sure the family is happy to have their little ones back and safe. I say little ones believing this couldn't be adults frolicking in rising waters of a rising creek. If by chance it was an adult(s) this is a perfect example of why I am allergic to stupid...

It is those PoleCat peoples that complain about the postings and PJR writings. If you want real news they have; JC is in Birmingham, Snow reports, gonna rain in Charlotte, JC got to eat a Shrimp Po Boy, there is water on Williamson road. NOW THAT IS NEWS YOU CAN USE.

This is Pike County, people will know whether the names are released or not. This article tells exactly where they live...And yes it was stupid. I agree with that....But as someone on the Barnesville paper wrote.."hilarious".

Lamar County fire rescue boat was in Lamar County. Near Plantation Road is off Hwy 18. Kicking off of the Pike County fire department. We now has 4 Lamar County rescue boats and 20 SCBA Diver.

It seem that every time we have any kind of flooding going on in our creeks,or rivers..somebody, somewhere always has to tempt fate by floating, boating or whatever on the swollen, dangers waters. Why is that??

o boy! i know who u r now!! i was actually just tired when i seen u! lol. i was thinking it would be fun..lol...had no clue i would get stuck! oh well....yeah it was stupid now i know that much! and u know i am not the type to do something if i think i would b in danger. i was not thinking obviously!!! but we all make mistakes....so i am just going to move past it and never do anything like that EVER AGAIN!!!
