The Pike County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to acquire property off Adams Street in Zebulon for a future judicial center during their Tuesday, Nov. 10 meeting.

The BOC just got their utilities paid until they can relocate. You too Rob. The citizens are tired of the BS ya'll are throwing us. We are not grade school kids, we can figure out the lining of pockets!
Sorry PCJC missed that "unanimous" vote. Thanks for pointing it out.
Would love for you to research Call N. Alcars questions and provide answers in the follow-up. Property deeds are public record, shouldn't be hard to find out who owns the property currently.
Let's not just point fingers at Don, it is ALL of the BOC.
I read in the paper today that he didn't understand the SPLOST lesson that he just got taught.
I can only imagine that poor Don has already begun suffering from Alzheimer's or Dimentia since his memory is so short; or, perhaps he was one of the many bloggers telling us "We'll get you my pretties" (imagine Don as the Wicked Witch of the West for that quote.
Pike county citizens remember that this BOC has promised to spend:
$1 million to fund a private company (Yancey Brothers)
$4.5 million amounts on a new judicial complex that isn't needed or required despite their continued assertions that the mean old Judiciary is forcing them to do it.
Not to mention that they've created an 8 month budget that is as much as last years 12 month budget.
When you donate something and no cash is exchanged it removes the power of the BOC to skim off the top. Steve and his crew of 5 on the BOC are just trying to make ends meet for their family and homes. It is tough trying to make a (honest) living in todays times. Take $70,000 divide it by 6 then throw the big dog his share is not a bad days work in Executive Session for 30 minutes.
Oh, I did save money last night, I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.
Happy Thanksgiving
Don Collins article in todays PJR reveals the fact that he has an agenda to punish the tax payers who voted down his SPLOST project. MY advice......get rid of Collins and Mangham and the rest of the bunch. $165,000 for land for a project there is no money to fund. FOlks, government is out of hand in Pike. We MUST unite and stop these vindictive IDIOTS.
Copy and paste the above Tiny URl to view property in that area.
Without having more information, it could be assumed the property to be purchased will not be the 2.75 acres owned by Pike County BOE valued at $4,466 and sitting across from The Chandler Building.
Is this the old school type building? I ask because I am not familiar with the area, although my dear old Ma lives close enough to that old building it could be reached by a run-of- the-mill Palestinian rock chunker.
Adjacent to the 2.75 acre Pike County BOE property is 2.4 acres owned by Mr. Dunn valued at $91, 500. Adjacent to the Dunn property next to the church property is 2.1 acres owned by Walker Chandler and Ruth Chandler valued at $80,400. Could the Chandlers be the lucky property sellers? I don't recall seeing FOR SALE signs posted out on Hwy 19 S.
There is a nice empty parcel for sale behind the Pike County Bank.
How much space is required for the future Judicial Center?
Could existing Pike County BOE property be utilized for future expansion?
When viewing the parcel maps, bear in mind the Dunn property sits between the Pike County BOE property and the Chandler property.
Is that property next to be purchased so Pike County can own all the property up to the cemetery?
I know, I know, I am not a Pike resident, but, my dear Mother does live in Zebulon. Also, I don't stay at any Holiday Inn Express Hotels.
Parrish, If this is a true statement you should resign. It is a conflict of interest for you to work for a vendor providing services to the county. I'm surprised our esteemed law firm didn't tell you this.
You can't stop them unless you recall them. However, you can remember how they voted and vote them out.
And those of you who wanted the SPLOST. It was the commissioners that caused it to be voted down. If they were doing the job they were elected for instead of schmoozing with the business executives from Yancey, and doing uneccessary projects you would have a SPLOST for the judicial complex.
We are gonna get it( complex) wanted or not. Ever since the complex has been proposed for this particular site, all I have heard is how much it will cost including the land purchase. For 2 years now I have asked and never recieved an answer about the cost of infrastructure for the site. No one has ever included that amount in the price tag. They try to pee in my ear and tell me it's raining when it comes to the cost of infrastructure. We are talking about another 1/2 million dollars at best and possibly more. This is something I know about, having a degree in civil engineering and being in the construction industry 40 years. I have tried to explain budget overruns and cost to them in the past, about the just failed splost being short of revenue to pay it back, but they have a head strong, damn us mentallity and we have been had. Mark my words, down the road, they will be looking for the infrastructure money like fire station garage doors and lots of other over looked things of the past. Many of you know that I have had issues with Carol from my term as CM, but I think we have resolved that and we both tried to tell the BOC that the numbers they want too work with don't jive. They seem to never listen and learn.
All they are doing is getting kick backs for who they benefit now and who will line their pockets later.
They are either planning for their future, or getting what they can now at the expense of the Pike County Tax payer.
Look at the past commissioners there are to many people that don't remember when we had farmers in there. Joseph Chapman voted no on a raise for the them. (The Commissioners)
He said we are here to represent the people of the county, and not for our own benefit.
Heck! I think these we see are taking lessons from Obama! Promise the world and deliver a bill from H-E- double hockey sticks! In the form of taxes.

How big will the Judical Center be if it only sits on two parcels, 2.4 and 2.1 acres? How many acres did the county buy from the School Board? I would also like to ask why this center must be built in a residential area. It seems the proper place for this center would be on or near County Farm Road next to the Waste Station and the State Correctional Facility. Why wait to vote the commissioners out? Start a recall petition drive and get the signatures.
Well Mr. David if Commissioner Parrish Swift tells you it is false then he lied when he sported a Jones Petroleum T-shirt to a BOC meeting and said he was now employed with the vendor. Guess he was so happy about finding a job after 6 years of unemployment he could not keep it to himself.
Commissioner Swift, with your ties to a vendor petroleum dealer could you supply the citizens of Pike some free grease for the screwing you just gave us?
People are surprised at the land being purchased? People are surprised at the pipeline project, which now has a higher price tag?
Buying land now will save money later, whether it's months or years when a new judicial center is built. The plans for the thing have been around for some time now, and people have talked about the need for it. I just hope the BOC eventually acquires enough land to have a suitable jail build on the same space. Both are a gavel bang from being built anyway.
All this will get done, as it should, and everyone will forget about it. Some will clamor for a recall that will never, ever happen. I even predict that not one commissioner will lose his seat over this. So get ready fellow citizens. We're all going to tote this bill for a long, long time.
OK Donna. Calm down. Don't be paranoid. Take it easy. Have a beer.
The old days are over. We heard this Chapman story too many times.
J T and nobody else are out to get you. Go to bed and get some sleep.

Thank you for your input on Buy It Now! Also your dumb arse brain that "not one commissioner will lose his seat." Parrish Swift is in District 2 and he should toss in the towel now. I predict Woody the Woodpecker could beat him in the next election.

David I think it should be a TV investigation report. Parrish and Steve Marro have really hooked up. His firehouse, free well and now this vendor job. Is he still the assistant to the coroner? Put him in front of the cameras without his main man Marro.
If Don Collins had not of unseated Jake Garner.
If Margie Trammell had of unseated Tommy Insurance Powers.
If Roosevelt Willis had not dumped a non-qualified Code Enforcer Officer of the law on Hilltop.
If the Carpetbagger had not found $30,000 in cash in a brown papersack (which was never deposited in the county account).
Then we would not have this mess with SPLOST, the pipeline, the surprise land deal which no one knew about. The BOC lied, Marro lied. They knew what they were doing for themselves.
Time to give the sleeze masters the boot.
Don't forget your 8 month taxes are due December 20th.
Just wait until you get your next tax bill + the 4 months + the 12 months. Then Sue you will understand. Marro will be gone by then and will miss the outrage. Florida does honor extradition. Parrish will probably try and put a lot of distance between Steve. Doug, Don, Rosie and Tommy will stay to face the music. As Rob always says, This ain't gonna be pretty.
Don't understand why they don't understand. We voted no for Splost. News Flash....That means we don't want more taxes or unnecessary spending. Do we honestly need a big judicial complex. I am voting against my commissioner next time 'cause he never answers his phone! Wake up people...We need people in public offices that have a little common sense..so start low on the totem pole and work your way up removing all of them from office by exercising that precious right that we have (for now anyway) VOTING!
Did Yancey Brothers meet with Marro, Swift, Collins and Powers requesting their taxpayer paid pipeline be re-routed under the proposed Mangham Willis Judical Complex? What is that all about?
Lamar County is moving up. Sorry fire chief Danny. Lamar County fire department stay in Lamar and Pike County. I'm sorry. Sorry fire chief Danny. More taxes are not the answer. No taxes. Barnesville and Lamar County firefighters staying at the station 24 hours and 7 days. A fulltime paid firefighters stay with all the firehouse manned 24 hours and 7 days. Why? Because the citizens voted for it and they said so. Why? Because fire, rescue and medical. The firefighters save 3 or 4 minutes. Congrats to the Lamar County Commissioners. We can't give Danny a fulltime paid. Sorry Pike County fire chief Danny.
Just sit back and watch for there is nothing that can be done at this point. They got the property and now the money is coming in. It will be built or just about complteted by the time they come up for election and there is nothing to do but get ready to pay more.
Who sadi voting down SPLOST who teach them a lesson. I dont see one being learned.
Every office in the Pike County courthouse will fit in the old Giant Mart building. Cubicle sweet cubicle. Leave the courthouse alone for future movies. They may have another murder in Coweta County one day. Another Tank may come through....
David,
Parrish is between the Marro and the hard place.
If he tells you he is not employed with Jones then he lied after a BOC meeting while sporting their work shirt. Maybe the boy just can't tell the truth and that would be understandable since he learned it from the Master Marro.
Hum? I wonder if they have Executive Sessions at Jones Petroleum. I sure hope so because Swifts are coming to a fast close here.
You will find out the truth, looks like Parrish would tell you rather than sweating a reporter digging into it.
Why couldn't they rent the Giant Mart until the court house is restored?
They aren't interested in doing what the people want (and for dear old Don Collins that's SPEND LESS MONEY!!). They are only apparently interested is wasting our money.
Sheila, you don't live in Pike County, you don't work in Pike County, you don't vote in Pike County. We don't need your imput. You don't have a dog in this fight.
If it is fine for school kids to attend classes in trailers, the court house employees can stay in The Giant Mart. I do not see a problem. In fact, it would be a good permanent place. Ample parking, more space. Unless they have secrets, they don't really need cubicle walls. I see it as a reuniting of our county. Working together as a team. Go Team!!! They will get to the cemetery soon enough. Stop payment on that check for the land. And to the person who is worried about me having a dog in the Pike fight, that is too afraid to voice an opinion with their name, "Don't make me say, sick'em." Welcome to Giant Mart.
Lamar and Pike County. Both county. Three building. One "Judicial Center" in Pike County. 2 story building. Two "Judicial Center and Supreme Court" in Lamar County. 2 story building and 3 story building.
That is what I meant also David. I just like to exaggerate more and more because Anonymous writers hate it. Most of them are probably elected officials.
It is official.
Lawsuits are coming.
The Polecat said so and I believe it.
If the Polecat does not like what you say on any site or blog that they cannot delete then you will be sued and sent to jail.
Hummmmm, a womens prison might not be to bad.
Why isn't the PC Journal telling us how they voted?
Why isn't it noted in this article that the City of Zebulon offered to let them use space in the CZ complex while the court house is repaired?
Enjoy it while you can fellows. It won't be long now. I would go ahead and brush up on your resume skills.
The BOC and County Manager just got their Christmas bonus.
How is your Christmas bonus? Don't forget taxes due December 20th.
1. Who is the 'lucky' property owner(s) receiving a 'windfall' in this depressed real estate market?
2. How much money is the 'lucky property owner(s) going to receive in the 'windfall'?
3. Are there sufficient reserves on hand?
4. The 'future"....how long in the future?
5. Are there any conflicts?
