Are high-tech prostheses fair?

This past week, another scientific study on running raised the issue of athletes with lower-leg amputations who use high-tech prosthetics having a bionic advantage in contests against ordinary competitors.

I'm guessing that none of the other runners would be willing to amputate their legs in order to take advantage of these types of devices.

I say give this guy his due. He's suffered long and hard I assure you to even get his body able to deal with the prosthesis.

Now, if the other runners do decide to amputate then it will be time to outlaw them or create a seperate running class for them.

Thats lame to say that someone should be given an advantage because they suffered an injury. Typical liberal thinking, "level up the playing field" by artificial means. Completely demeans the whole athletic process. If he were made equal, then ok, but to be given an advantage is simply not fair, and thinking so is simply emotion based thinking.

The point to my statement was that it wasn't an advantage.

He's had to work twice as hard to get where he could compete. 1 - to condition himself to wear a very painful device and 2 - to condition his body without the use of legs to run in the race.

And one other thing, I am the futhest thing from a liberal you will ever meet.

Define the technological edge and place them that far behind the start line. Or get over it! Look at the man's muscles. He has been working for this challenge.

How quick people are to lable someone liberal or conservative..like that should be the ulitimate measure of whether a point is valid or not.
