FNB suspect charged in Concord bank robberies

The man charged with last week's robbery of an FNB branch in Griffin has now been charged with two similar robberies at a bank in Concord.

William Lee Hunt Jr., 27, of Woodbury in neighboring Meriwether County is charged with multiple robbery counts.

I heard that the bank employee that returned fire on the robber was fired from his job. Anyone know if that's true or not.

Gosh, I hope that is not true!! This person should be given a medal of honor to protect his co~workers like that..........One question I do have is where was he/she get a gun in a bank??

Yes, That is correct. Their policy states no weapons allowed by employees (maybe not those exact words, but that's the jist of it).

This is good to know. I will move my accounts from FNB and go to United Bank. FNB, I have been with you for 19 years. NO MORE!!

My guess is the bank employee had the weapon on his person. Yes, that is sad if he had been fired. I carry my weapon everywhere open and sometimes concealed. All Americans should get their carry permit and start packin!!!!

It is only going to get worst. Mark my word.

The manager was a 20+ yr employee and was given a months severance and not allowed into the bank to clean out his desk. He should have been suspended for a week for violating bank policy about weapons, but not fired.

He is a super guy. He is the short guy that owns Sweeties Flea Market near Hampton.

I will move 2 accounts tomorrow.

The people at the branch would only confirm that W** was not there and that "we have a new manager" Mr. XXXXX. I was never told that W** was actually fired. I told them I heard W** was fired and that the punishment was too harsh and that I was moving my accounts to United Bank. The people at that FNB branch are really nice folks and have treated me well.

I haven't seen anything in the newspapers about the shooting.

Don't think I'd want to be doing business with an establishment whose management TURNS on a 20 yr. employee.

Sorry, I was kind of unclear when I wrote:

I should have written, THAT IS WHY "I was moving my accounts to United Bank..

The teller asked me if I would like to order a BRINKS truck to haul my CASH out of there. I told her a small envelope would suffice and then I hauled my A** out of there. Not really!

Just being funny for W**'s sake.

Done Deal!..now I must change all my automatic account debits, ie: house payment, utilities, truck payment, etc. to be taken from my UB account.

I find myself to be of 2 minds about the bank manager being fired.
Company policy is set in place for a reason, sometimes a stupid reason, but it IS company policy.
This is a tough call.

I remember when my dad who owned a small grocery business back in the 50's would spank the children that were caught stealing candy,then he would call the parent and the parent would spank them too....

I worked in Upper Management for about 30 years. You are right cats, company policies are there for reasons. But like speeding, doing 60 in a 25 mph zone has stiffer fines than doing 60 in a 55 mph zone. All things considered, a write-up, some time off without pay, pay cut....with over twenty years of service.........so many other options?

Anyone discharging a wepon at that range with people everywhere and does not hit his target should never be allowed to carry anyway.

What if he had mistakenly hit one of you while discharging his weapon in the bank. Would you feel the same? It is just money that is insured. If the bank manager wanted to be in law enforcement then he should have gone into law enforcement. I don't want my bank employee shooting anyone I want him to be a banker. Twenty years is great but shooting one innocent bystander could cost the bank millions and you can not tell me that one of you guys who is defending him would not sue if he hit your loved one.

This man may have a card that allows him to carry a concealed weapon. It's not like he woke up on day and said "I" think I"m going to take my gun into work today just in case and boom.......A bank robber.......lucky him to have a gun.

No, I bet lots of ppl knew this man carried a gun just about every day of his buiness days. I bet the company knew of this and let it continue day in and day out w/ nothing more to say....I'm sure he may have felt protected. May have made his own employees feel protected knowing there is a man here who can protect us if some thug on the street walks in demands money. If the robber had of shot an employee or a bystander in the building at the time, would it then be justice for the manager to pull his gun and shot the man dead?? One life for a life?? Or just the the robber shoot up the place and have no one alife?? Wonder if he was caring his cross when the robber walked into the door??

The was faced with a potential life-threatening situation in the workplace and that should have been taken in to consideration before they just let him go. Maybe United Bank will hire him. Then maybe he can hire Houston Hatchett for security.

You are right pond house. the other bank jobs not one shot was fired. There my not have been one had he not pulled his weapon. Not taking up for the robber but people should let the cop s do there job. also fnb in zebulon is not the same as griffin. They are off the barnsville.

A 28 year employee gone. Wes needs a bigger gun and shooting lessons. He fired at close range and missed that big ex-athlete bank robber.

Many FNB customers moved their accounts besides my husband and me. A teller friend told me.

Still don't get it huh? I shall try a little slower. If he was a marksman and had hit the target (read between the eyes) the vest would have been useless. By the way, how much firearms training have you had. For that matter how many of you that moved accounts have had any? I also have seen no news report of body armor.

Wes has been worrying for a week. He was FIRED after working 28 years at FNB. Probably overfilled on coffee. His eyes have a right to be "muddy". He violated 'company policy'...big deal! He SHOULD have received 2 weeks suspension, for not hitting the big ol' robber. Wes should have creeped up slowly and lined up for a nice head shot.
BAM! BAM! After telling the robber to drop his gun...of course! No trial!
