I think that the young men of pike need a place to go and learn how to become a young respedtable man of pike. They do not teach that in the school we really need R.O.T.C in this area. I vote yes for Teen Challenge
Tena Honey, I think you may be very much mis-informed on this issue. Teen Challenge is just a positive way of saying "Reform School." These are not the kind of diploma's that you would hang on the wall with pride.
I'm sorry Tena. I think you are the one who has been misinformed. These kids are looking to turn their lives around and to date, Teen Challenge has not had one incident of malicious conduct in the neighborhoods in which they are located. The person in charge of this is a deeply committed Christian who realizes that to follow Christ, you do not turn your back in fear and you put your trust in the Lord knowing you are doing the right thing.
I don't blame you number 1.2.1 and 1.2.2, if I were going to call the people of Pike County afraid, I would use the name anonymous also. The people I know here in Pike County are God fearing, but not afraid of much anything else.
Fear not, for three commissioners have given you the authority to come on down. We Pike residents respect authority as much as we do the boundaries of our land and all that lies thereon.
One of these sites is for the National Teen Challenge Organization. The other site is for the Georgia Teen Challenge Organization.

Several questions are presented:
1. Why is TC Florida involved and not TC Georgia? Or why not TC USA?
TC Georgia does the same type of work as planned in Pike County. Also, TC Georgia has a man on the leadership staff who grew up and spent his early adult years in Pike County. He could have been a great resource for answering questions.
TC Florida owns the Pike County Property.
2. Did anyone investigate the recent changes of ownership of the property?
*- A church of some sort was there for years.
*- After that church paid off the property it was sold for $300,000+ and disappeared.
*- The benefactor (purchaser)of the property, through very legal paperwork, used FAG to give the property to TC Florida.
*- Now, TC Florida is liable for the property.
A group more that 25 miles away, FAG, is controlling the property.
Repeating ... did anyone check out these
people? TC Florida? TC Pike? FAG?
3. Did anyone do background checks on the local TV Pike Staff? TC USA Staff? FAG Staff?
Pike County in recent years had two government school staff members embarrass the county with bad behavior. Are Pike County citizens scared? No ... just wise!
4. Does everyone think that First Assembly of God of Griffin (FAG) owns that property?
FAG does not own that property. FAG owned the property long enough to facilitate a gracious gift and provide a taxable event for the person who purchased it recently.
Teen Challenge of Florida owns the property.
5. Why is FAG involved?
Does a church, FAG, that is 25+ miles away have more interest in Pike County...
than First Assembly of Pike County (5 miles away)
or Christ Church (5 miles)
or First Baptist of Zebulon (8 miles)
or Church of Joy (12 miles
or Grace Rock (15 miles)
or Rock Springs (15 miles)
or (__fill in your preference__)
........ get the picture !!!
Pike County would not allow an industry to move in and have the liability spread across several states while the local entity is controlled by a non-profit that is 25+ miles away.
Some in Pike County survived the Moonshining Days ... others survived J. Astor Riggins ... others survived the Carter Administration and in recent years, the current residents survived some very bad publicity by very bad government school officials.
NOW ... If all goes as planned TC Pike County through the watchful eyes of FAG, reporting only to TC Florida, will help the sons of some who can send their wayward children to TC Pike rather than a state reform school.
Why not check more thoroughly?
Would the last one out, please wake up the three blind commissioners?
I will be willing to help with the "Justin Cayce for commissioner signs." Can someone please answer these very valid questions that he has asked? I am already working on his campaign slogans, 'Just in case you want Justice, vote for Justin Cayce!
This was approved by the county commission with the understanding that if there were any issues that Teen Challenge would be shut down. Now we have had an escape from TC yet I haven't seen the county commissioners making any effort to close the facility.
Once again, the county has run rough-shod over the rights and desires of the citizens of the county and then not followed up on their promises.
