On the 70th anniversary of one of the most selfless acts of heroism in United States annals, the American Legion in Pike County honored the memories of four chaplains of different faiths who worked together to save sailors aboard a World War II troopship.
American Legion Post 197 Sgt. At Arms Robert Huckaby and American Legion Auxiliary Juniors member Willa Payton carry the colors during the Sunday, Feb. 3 Four Chaplains program. Post 197 is open to any men and women veterans but also has the American Legion Auxiliary for relatives of veterans, the Sons of the American Legion for sons and grandsons of veterans and the Auxiliary Juniors. To find out how to get involved, pikepost197@gmail.com or call 770-468-4177.
