Arrest made in child's murder
A neighbor has been arrested and charged with murder and additional counts in connection with the death of nine-year-old Skylar Dials whose body was found in the woods about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.
From Spalding sheriff Wendell Beam:
After an intense investigation Shane Clifton Collett, age 40 of 678 Yarbrough Mill Road Griffin, Georgia was arrested for the death of 9 year old Skyler Dials. Mr. Collett has been charged with Murder, Kidnapping and Concealing a Death and is currently being held in the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center without bond.
Investigators are still awaiting the results of the autopsy which will determine the cause of death. More information will be released as it is received by the Sheriff’s Office.
The family of Skyler Dials wants to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the community for all of their assistance during this tragic time. The family is requesting the communities understanding at this time to honor their privacy during the coming days.

Death penalty takes 20 years at taxpayers expense. General prison population is the quick and lethal answer. Served up without fanfare or a last meal.

In order to comply with the family of Skyler for their privacy, I will keep this short: Children are put through so much needless suffering in this world. My prayers go out to loved ones with heavy hearts.
