Magistrate judge candidates Marcia Callaway-Ingram and Loretta Rakestraw will be on the ballot for the runoff election after two provisional ballots tallied Friday afternoon narrowed Rakestraw's lead to just two votes over opponent Wayne Woods.

Do the math, how much does a recount cost the citizens of Pike? I doubt I can now put a IOU in the petty cash box in the Magistrate's office to pay for it. Those days are past and replaced with professional leadership.

I think a recount is in order. It may not change the outcome, but if I were in the running, I sure would request a recount.

Why Marcia Callaway-Ingram expect my taxes to pay her attorney fees? I thought she "ARE" an attorney?

Marcia Callaway-Ingram v. Pike County Georgia (also naming the County Manager and each Commissioner individually) is a Writ of Mandamus that was filed on August 1, 2011. She seeks a Writ of Mandamus requiring the Board of Commissioners pay her the salary that was set at the outset of the 2009-2012 term as required in OCGA 15-10-23(d), require the county to hire a full-time Associate Magistrate Judge as there was prior to the her appointment in office, give a permanent injuction for the County, the BOC, and County Manager Bill Sawyer from "interfering with the effective operation of the Magistrate Court" including the prevention of job applications from reaching her office for a vacant position, and also seeks back pay with interest and attorney's fees.

Sure. A vote for Marcia is a vote for another lawyer who already wants a salary increase.

You are correct, she does spend more time in the office than Marcia. However, I do not think custodian cleaning services apply on this issue.

Nope. Wrong again. But I am still wearing your class ring. I stand firm in my beliefs. I don't let love interfere with my rational decisions. Loretta spends more time in the office because someone has to do Marcia's job while she attends her various court dates which pop up due to her suing the county on our dime to get a salary increase. AND wants US to pay her Attorney Fees when she "SUPPOSEDLY" or is it "ALLEGEDLY" is a lawyer. I cannot get over that ! We are cutting budgets right and left and she sued US for a salary INCREASE. Please make me understand it. Marcia will definitely get the Lawyer, Judge, Upper Echelon, Rich, etc. vote because "birds of a feather," "one hand washes the other" etc.....Loretta will get the votes of Pike Countians who think the average people deserve respect. I will almost bet you that the competent Deputies will vote for Loretta because they have more important things to do than make appointments around the personal schedule of a Magistrate Judge. They have a job taking their own lives into their hands and I hope when the smoke clears that the Pike County Deputies get a significant increase in pay! That last sentence does not fit in this blog but it stays on my mind so much...it just pops out when it gets ready!!!!!

No one ever said "Loretta had poor moral character." However, if she did she could fill the #2 administrative position on the other pollsite.

There is no reason for voters to do your voting research for you or explain our votes. You tell us why you voted wrong. Read the news, ask your questions to those running for office and then make a intelligent decision to cast your vote. Are you a registered voter?

A recount cost much less than the salary increase that Marcia wants.....and she has not even been elected yet! Only appointed.

I understand what you are saying and we all know that when you are reading and not face to face things are taken different ways. It was a simple question. People do not take these forum's serious and I can understand why. They are dominated by a few ill minded people who have nothing better to do than show their ignorance. If one wanted to have an intelligent conversation on here it would quickly be interrupted by those few people who have nothing better to do with their time. You give them an opportunity to say why they support someone and they can't even do that.

I hope I am not one of those of whom you speak, Rayeann...but the reason I encourage my friends and family in Pike to vote for Loretta is because she is an honest, experienced in her field of Magistrate court, and people-caring person. She sure as heck did not ask that Taxpayers pay for her personal lawyers. A couple thousand dollars is a lot of money to average people. Heck! $100 extra would make many people smile.

Sheila, the reason I'm voting for Judge Marcia Callaway-Ingram, women are more honest and sincere in serving citizens. I'm for keeping a lady as the Magistrate Judge. Don't waste your vote on Rakestraw.

Here is the news from the open records of the commissioner report. Marcia submitted a budget to give herself a $14,000 pay increase for the 2012-2013 budget.
You're kidding! Get outta here. She should give Daphne a pay increase also. She's a multi-tasker. She blogs and does whatever else WE pay her to do during her work day.

You must be fair and balanced. Do your homework. Rakestraw sued the county, she got backpay $$$ and marched right back into her old job. It is also in the open records.

Vote for Marcia, keep a woman as Pike County Magistrate Judge.

Of course you know Rakestraw is going to come back and sue the county again if she loses.

I know my list of friends and relatives in Pike County are smart enough to know that a vote for Rakestraw is a vote for spending limits and budget cuts. That other woman is already asking for an additional $13,000 in salary and she has NEVER even been elected. PLUS...SHE wants ME to pay her personal attorney fees. What if she needs additional attorney fees in the future? George...I know you are smarter than you are showing here. The Wayne supporters and Marcia supporters who did not know that Marcia is already asking for a raise, do not want an attorney in Pike's Monopoly Magistrate Game who already passed go and tried to collect $2000. Does she not know the rules?

Correct me if I am wrong here George...In fact show me....go back and read those open records ONE MORE TIME. Regarding the lawsuit that Loretta WON. Loretta did not initiate the legal proceedings. Originally the county filed a judgment against Loretta to determine if she was still legally an Associate Magistrate Judge after Priscilla resigned. When Marcia ILLEGALLY suspended her from her job, she defended herself against an unlawful suspension--only the Judicial Qualifications Commission can remove a Judge from office. (You have heard of the JQC before, I know.) Unlike Marcia who is suing for a raise in pay, FROM MY checkbook and the checkbook of every person who pays PIKE COUNTY TAXES, Loretta only wanted her job back. Because the Judge ruled in HER favor, she was RIGHTFULLY awarded HER attorney fees for defending herself against unlawful termination.

George, it actually disappoints me that you would defend Marcia in such devious matters. Would you like to have been ILLEGALLY tossed out of a job because a new boss was appointed?

Right is right and wrong is wrong. You have shocked me in this case!

Sheila, you know a lot about journalism and legal organs. Are organs also required to print obits? When people die most of the time it is because a organ quit working. Does my .24 cents per edition pay for listings in the organ and does my tax dollars go toward helping a tired organ?
