Warden Edd Sanders was able to collect 35 boxes of books from a women’s prison that closed recently and donate them to the Williamson Library, whose collection has reached around 15,000 books.
A new library and educational center in Williamson is taking shape after recent renovations to the building and book donations. The facility could open as early as July 4.

Only want to state that it was the decision of the Board of Commissioners to give the building to the city of Williamson, not the library board. The majority of the board was in favor of developing a branch in Williamson. Now the library board is out $30,320 of impact money which was spent to move and set up the building. This money is badly needed to help maintain main library as well as provide for future needs.
Thumbs up for that one Lynn. You go girl. Now tell us the commissioners who voted for this.
It is time to get tough on incumbents and the way they handle our tax dollar. Please tell us also who the County Manager was?
Walkin Boss I would also like to take this opportunity for building us a new firehouse in Molena. I worked for DOC and DOAS State Commissioner David Evans, I know he too is proud of your hard work.
The building was GIVEN to the city of Williamson at the Sept 9, 2009 meeting. Not sure who was in office at that time. As a current member of the library board, I feel the funds taken from the impact fees need to be reinstated, as the county library really needs access to those funds.
Thank you Lynn. The BOC and County Manager would have been;
Mangham
The Donald Collins
Willis
Swift
Powers
Marro
All gone except for The Donald, The Doug and The Tommy.
Just say NO to incumbents.
Pike has local talent in the paving business. I do not understand a paving company from Americus getting the contract to pave the library parking lot. They are done and gone now and so is the county manager, both 80 miles from here.
George...was this job publicized for local bids? C'mon, please say yes........anything else would be unfair to Pike. Will you let me know when you find out, George?
Working on it. Seems Americus really liked Pike County and 160 miles roundtrip was just to help our rural county out. Always remember the famous quote by Marro, "I hired outside the county because I did not think anyone in Pike was smart enough for the job." Marro hired Dawn Dickerson as the Planning Director. All Pike knows the rest of that story.
