Mortons to manage in interim

Pike County commissioners named the firm of Morton and Morton as interim county manager at the May 9 board meeting. County clerk Teresa Watson said four applications have been received so far. County attorney Rob Morton said according to the county code, an interim county manager must be appointed within four weeks of the position’s vacancy.

Say what? Who will the county attorney which is now the county manager appoint as the new county attorney so he can appoint a project manager to report to Ben Carter so he can inspect and sign off on his own work?

Where is Alfred E. Newman when we need him?
Remember he is our community organizer.

Last January Commissioner Tommy Powers voted himself on the Water Board, bad vote. Now he is running again to keep his BOC seat. He has stated the only reason is for the health insurance. He should not have input into the employees health insurance program today which states could save the county $90,000. If he fails to retain his seat on the BOC that might save the $90,000 for the county. Could this leech be on a health plan with the water board?
Maybe Tommy should just go home make his pies and checkout the Obama Health Care Plan.

"Dewey Defeats Truman" was a famously incorrect banner headline on the front page of the first edition of the Chicago Tribune on November 3, 1948. Incumbent United States President Harry S. Truman, who had been expected to lose to Republican challenger and Governor of New York Thomas E. Dewey in the 1948 presidential race, won the election. A delighted Truman was photographed at St. Louis Union Station holding a copy of his premature political obituary. Only a few hundred copies of the paper were published before the Tribune issued a second edition that backed off from proclaiming a winner. The headline is a cautionary tale for journalists about the dangers of being first to break a story without being certain of its accuracy. It is also a caution about allowing editorial preference to cloud judgment; the Tribune had been strongly against Truman throughout the campaign.

Oh well, so much for signing on as Lois Lion....back to the old Sheila Tolley again. Alternate names looked good for a short spell. I thought we were back up to five bloggers. I guess some punk had to screw that little advantage up being ugly...as they always do. I will be back later as the one you love to hate...Sheila Tolley.

"a. Interim County Manager requests Executive Session for consultation with the County Attorney"

Say What? Is the Interim County Manager who is also the County Attorney requesting to speak with himself?

Will this also apply to the new position of County Communicator requesting to speak with the Director of Planning and Zoning which is also himself?

There is the news in black and white Sheila. The county attorney aka as county manager is going to appoint himself as The County Communicator. Poor Mr. Allen's 15 minutes of fame are now gone along with his Kodak, architect rubbing elbow and the power to report request for payments.
