County manager's last day

County manager Bill Sawyer has announced his last day in the Pike County office will be Friday, May 4. He said it is time for him to leave the office.

Glory Bee, George....

"County manager Bill Sawyer will resign as of June 1, and he tendered his regsignation in a letter to the county commission chairman Doug Mangham."

Did he finish a month early? Return any monies due because of premature evacuation? Leave a status on the budget vs. courthouse project?

Don't sound like a Southern gentleman's agreement to me....leaving a month early is "rite down rude."

Aunt Bea was gonna make him some cracklin cornbread.........

And a CDL. He can drive a truck for the Americus Concrete Company. I'd say he took a upgrade from being county manager.

The County Manager job is now wide open. Everyone knows my feelings about hiring local talent. I'm impressed with Sheila Tolley, her devotion to the county, management leadership abilities and I know she takes no excuses or bull. We have a jewel right here that could do the job and exhibit PRIDE for all Pike County Citizens.

Sheila Tolley step up to the plate. We need you, another Lady down at the BOC.

Well his last official act was cleaning up the signs at Hwy 18 and Reidsboro Road. Poor business owner just trying to make a living. You two birds happy now?

You are very thoughtful and I appreciate your vote of confidence. Although I own a house and land in Pike, and have friends and relatives there, I actually reside in Spalding County. Pike has been my home since birth and my choice of places to live. I may move back one day. You are a very nice gentleman to think so highly of me, though we have never met.

However, politics scare me, George. I am sure there is a clause somewhere that says "one cannot go into politics and Heaven."

I hope to meet you one day in person....we'll do lunch. My treat!

I am short...but this comment went right over my head. Are you happy or disgruntled? What two birds? His last official was "breaking another contract", verbal or otherwise.

Hazel eyes are definitely my favorite, George. My own are hazel, green or some combination thereof. That reminds me, I must get some Visine to take the red out.....

The former county manager claims he found $30,000 cash in a brown paper sack under the counter in the Building and Zoning Office. It was in the paper but never turned in. Pike could use it now, where is it? Maybe the county should hold onto his house for sale, unless it is upside down.

What else can you show me?
It blows the minds most bitterly, for them that think dishonesty.
While money doesn't talk, it swears.
It's only three commissioners games we have to snare.
They can never undo what they have done.
To the three men in the tub, it is all games,gimmie and fun.
They wrestle in the back room to be #1.
They want to be commissioner, county manager and project manager while over spending on the poor old court house.
They won't listen to reason, brain power or citizens, we all their joke.
Send the three packing with your next vote.
Then the new fresh members can work together with the only two smart ones left.
Time has past for Mangham, Collins and Powers.
No more should we hear like Obama;
I did, It's my administration, I've done, Me, me, me. Let's hear it from the voters;

My goodness, he looks like I'd imagine Doc Holliday would look, if Val Kilmer hadn't dazzled me with his portrayal.
