County commissioners voted 4-1 to approve a $2.67 million bid for the courthouse addition and renovations Wednesday, Jan. 11. Several questions were asked about the efficiency and durability of metal roofing versus the asphalt shingles that are on the courthouse.

If the Pike County Schools Annex Memorial Building will work for 11 months, it will continue to work. Put a metal roof back on the courthouse, snatch out the ridiculous wiring and let it be a tour sight.

We are paying 2.6 million dollars to screw up a historical sight with insufficient parking and allowing another building remain empty.

STUPID, STUPID, STUPID. Put it out for vote by the citizens.

The problem with metal roofing with a steep slant is that when it does leak, the water runs down the inside for a ways before it drips off onto the ceiling and it's nearly impossible to find the source of the leak.

Ok..I am not smart about roofing so: If the Pike County Schools Annex Memorial Building will work for 11 months, it will continue to work. Put shingles on the roof of the courthouse, snatch out the ridiculous wiring and let it be a tour sight.

By the time the fire reaches the roof it will pretty much be combustible....don't you think? I am so sick of all these damn regulations.

Over-regulated and over-sanitized that is our new United States.

There is a member of the Planning and Zoning Board that is a small time roofer and painter. He owns a local blog, I'm sure he could answer some petty questions about metal vs asphalt.

I think they should use empty Frito bags for the roof. They are impossible to open in this new world. I finally used hedge clippers. They will last as long as the courthouse. When the courthouse falls (physically) down in 200 years. It will look like a Frito Garden.

Your idea is much better than that of the Junior planning board member. Foil Frito Bags meet the Section 6-4 Special Hazard Protection with a Class A Flame Spread Rating of 0 to 25. His idea of using Cat Litter Bags offers no protection and the Flame Spread Rating is 200 to 500.
Sheila, I believe you have some engineering background. You should be on the Planning and Zoning Board.

I would choose an Ironing Board before the Planning and Zoning Board or any other political agendas in our New America.

Shelia, we might have messed up. fat bass tard has not responded. To be honest I only knew of two fat bass tards in Pike County. One went on his merry way to Florida and the other hangs around Concord. We are talking $50, we gave our word and now he might come to collect it.
