An employee of the Pike County Department of Family and Children Services has been suspended with pay after she was arrested by sheriff's deputies during an incident in Griffin. According to a Spalding County sheriff's report, Jeannie Griggers was arrested for criminal damage to property, second degree simple battery and disorderly conduct.

My daughter and hubby does have custody thank God. BUT, the mother is using the kids on HER medicaid, welfare, food stamps and DFCS KNOWS this, and my daughter can NOT get help for them for these things because the kids are on the NON custodial parent account for food stamps, welfare, etc.
The only reason she wanted help (yes BOTH parents work) is that one of the children have health issues that they can't pay to get help for. And the abusive boyfriend and mother is NOT helping a bit to pay for this.

Does anyone realize how many people could go to work in the textile industry alone in the United States? It is too big a number to even imagine? Exports for own account were reported for China (10,500 RB). Net sales of 15,400 RB for delivery in 2012/2013 were reported for China. Exports of 191,100 RB were up 10 percent from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (88,600 RB), Turkey (32,700 RB), Mexico (16,300 RB), South Korea (10,000 RB), Taiwan (9,200 RB), and Thailand (5,100 RB). Net American Pima sales of 3,400 RB were down 39 percent from the previous week and 3 percent from the prior 4-week average. State employees may be "just employees," but working at DFCS is never a 9 to 5 job. One is on call even when not officially on the on call schedule. As far as the paper making a "big deal," out of this, this incident happened almost a month ago and it's high time someone made a big deal out of this and much more. For starters, Ms. Griggers was caught numerous times in compromising situations with a subordinate inside the Pike Co. office causing complaints from other workers witnessing these events to complain of sexual harrassment. When this was brought to the attention of Director Resa Price along with information Ms. Griggers had been falsifying records, it was not turned over to the state for investigation but instead handled "in house," by Ms. Price. Oh, did I mention Ms. Price and Ms. Griggers (despite statements to the contrary by Ms. Price) are personal friends? Ms. Price and Ms. Griggers have attended at least one Alabama/Auburn football game together as well as Ms. Price singing at Ms. Griggers' neice's wedding. Sounds like conflict of interest to me.
In response to Ms. Ford's comment about ill-qualified and over-paid, with no genuine concern for families, I would just like to say it is not fair to make generalizations about everyone in that office based on one or two person's behavior. I personally know and have worked with several of the people in that office and know how much they do care and work many long hours with no recognition or appreciation from management. As far as being over paid, a starting teacher makes more than a social worker with DFCS and the social worker has no potential for an increase without an MSW. Services workers have also been furloughed one day a month for the last 2 1/2 years (I believe teachers only had three furlough days) and while the pay was reduced accordingly, the workload was not. If anything it was increased. And yes, Great Auntie, the management does have it's own agenda. A very good example of such would be the Foster Care supervisor, Liz Fordham, hand picking children with the greatest chance of being available for adoption to place with personal friends.
A little over a year ago, a foster care worker ws terminated for alleged insubordination when she left a meeting with Director Price and then Foster Care supervisor Liz Fordham in tears to pull herself together. Previously, then case worker Griggers, had cussed Director Price out during a staff meeting causing Ms. Price to leave the room in tears herself. Not only was Ms. Griggers not fired, but was later promoted to Social Services Supervisor.
And yes, up until Ms. Griggers sold her bonding company, it was a well known fact in the Upson County DFCS office that she conducted her personal business with the bonding company on state time.

2nd- its my understanding from a source inside DFCS that more children have been removed from their home while Ms. Griggers was in charge than any other
3rd- why didn't someone within the department question when Ms Griggers, the DFCS worker (who's home she was arrested) and Tammy Griener the DFCS attorney (who is basically contracted to DFCS) went on vacation together in May
(you can look at the attorney generals site and a disportionate amount of money is being paid to Ms Griener vs the other contracted attorneys in the area)

1) I can understand that; but if she was the most qualified for the job, what does that say about the rest of them.
2) if that placement rate was correct and an extreme jump under this supervisor; why didn't bells and whistles go off somewhere?
3) if DHR investigated Griner- what were the results? if I went on vacation with one of my contractors I wouldn't have a job period and from what I understand Griggers could assign cases to whichever attorney she chose.
Not being an employee of DFCS I don't know how true everything said is, bu I find the accusations made here on face value disturbing. I would hope they would be investigated by both the media and the state. It is my humble opinion what you call a "busy body" many may call a whistle blower. I would encourage anyone with knowledge about corruption to come forward not just in a message board but in any way they can. Seek whistle blower status if one can.
What I also find disturbing more than message board chatter is what appears to be a threat posted by managment or an associtate there of to silence someone. I have always heard if you haven't done anything wrong you don't have to worry about what people say.
I just hope whatever the truth is it comes out.

Think about it!
If Ms. Griggers was running a business on state time and getting paid by the state while doing another job, was Ms. Price aware of it. Did she allow it or facillitate in covering it up in anyway. Did Liz Fordham or any other person in managment have knowledge of it and act in a complicite way regarding the fraud? Did they approve time sheets they know to be false? I don't know, but it should be found out. We are not talking at this point of just a rouge employee after hours at this point. It sounds like suspicion of criminaly defrauding the state.
If Ms. Price is friends with Ms. Griggers and has allowed her to cuss her out in front of employees and behave in other ways that she has not allowed others to behave or even fired people for then it would sound like wrongful termination and a hostile work environment.
If Ms. Griggers did have an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate and anyone in managment was aware of it and did nothing, than they are negligent. The question would have to be asked was the subordinate given special treatment, premoted or benefit from the relationship? If so then everyone aware above them should be held accountable.
If Ms. Griggers relationships have led to over paying of state contracted individuals, ignouring of child abuse, or removal of children unneccisarily then the question is where was managment? At the end of the day Ms. Price is in charge, this is her staff. Why was it allowed to happen if it did? Are these people all covering for each other, is it a big cover up or negligence? If it happened.
I don't know the truth about these allegations. I'm just asking questions, but if these allegations are true somebody(s) does. I think it is about time someone answered these questions. If the allegations are found to be true people need to go to jail. I know the people deserve a DFCS office that has intigrity and honor because it is important work. I think it is time to demand it. We should know one way or another about these allegations.
I am encouraging everyone who cares and feels like me to contact the governors office and/or Fox 5 and demand an investigation.We desereve a resolution to these claims. I would also urge anyone with knowledge of corruption to come forward to contact these numbers or the local papers.

Secondly, i've been a foster parent with Pike/Upson and haven't had a single problem with anyone there. Everyone has always been very professional and easy to work with. And every child i've ever fostered was definately needing to be removed from the bio parents home.
Making all these hard-working case-workers out to be the devil is unfair. They work long hours and are way underpaid for what they go through.
Even so,"One bad apple spoils the bunch." I would say in regards to Pike DFCS, 2 or 3 bad apples spoil the bunch. If anyone ever dug deep enough, they would find the bad seed(s).
To the responsible workers...we give you praise for your LONG hours, stressful load of carrying two or more counties at a time, working without a raise in 4+ years, enduring furloughs while smiling and saying, "at least I have a job." :-/ I would LOVE to name names here. I would love to post on the front page of the newspaper, "Pike County DFCS has some of the most dedicated, hard-working, honest, dependable, caring, compassionate, under paid, under appreciated workers hands down!" Tis true!

When you are in a position of authority you should carry yourself in an appropriate manner and it is obvious neither of these women have done that.
Obviously if the matter had been handled properly when brought to the supervisors attention then we might not be reading about this is the first place.
Their are good honest people that work in the pike office that I have had the pleasure to have dealt with however since that office and upson county have merged it has been a nightmare. Since Pike is basically a sub station now no one can help you from that office you will be directed to Upson. The people are rude and you are directed to someones voice mail....please don't hold your breath for a call back anytime soon. I wonder if there is even a supervisor in Pike anymore...
I can say that I thought that the days of "Clicks" was limited to school days however by the looks of this that is not the case. We have grown women using their authority for all the wrong reasons.
I know that the Pike office has just a few people -I can think of two people that truly have the right intentions and heart for what they do - protect the children. They work long hours and sacrifice their own children and families in order to fill their work obligations. They are never off work - it is 24/7....overpaid you say? I say they are not paid enough. I pray that they are not casualties in this due to a few people who have made bad decisions or just as sad...made no decisions by sweeping things under the rug.....time to clean a little house.
If LaResa wants the pay, then she needs to be HELD ACCOUNTABLE!!! You don't just get to swish your little skirt around in front of the "right" people to get your way.

-she knew this same worker used the most vile, loathsome, despicable language in front of clients on a daily bases?
-she knew this worker took intakes on the phone in the reception area, subsequently discussing the people of Pike County's private, confidential information in a manor in which it could be overheard?
-she knew of a supervisor that falsified time sheets?
-she allowed workers to come to work 15-30 minutes late on a regular bases, taking 1 and a 1/2 hour lunches, leaving 10-20 minutes early everyday YET posting a full 40 hours on their time sheet?
-if she is rude, condesending and shows favoritism
-if she never shows gratitude or appreciation for a job "well done!"

-she should be terminated or at the very least examined by the state office.
