West Central facility gets reprieve

West Central Pre-Release Center has been a part of the Pike County community for decades and the facility may not close as announced by the Department of Corrections in June. Instead, the facility will be used to treat female inmates who require court-appointed substance abuse treatment beginning sometime after the start of the new year.

so now we will have 2 drug treatment facilities in pike county. are they going to keep the fence or will it get taken down?

Annual economic impact by facility to Pike and surrounding area = $ 1.4 million. Plus adds 188 to census count.

That is the annual budget, including salaries, that is dispersed primarily in the immediate area. Most of the staff are Pike residents; includes utility payments to city of Zebulon, local propane providers, etc.. Does not include free labor details provided for towns and agencies within the county.
