With the renaming of so many roads, I am saddened that Mr. Shi Holmes was excluded. His contributions were many and he was the most honorable man I have ever known, other than my own husband. Mr. Shi was remarkable and I was truly blessed to know him as a friend and advisor.
I am speaking with 58 years of earthly seniority as I write this reply. I have lived in Pike County, Upson County, Spalding County, Jacksonville-Florida, Fallon-Nevada, Virginia Beach-Virginia, Fort Smith-Arkansas, Nashua-New Hampshire, All Over-Atlanta, and visited extensively in Belgium, and Holland. Here is what I have learned,"Thorns have roses and roses have thorns, bring the roses to graves." And D.D. didn't know anyone named "yeah whatever."
Just curious, as I have not been as many places as you Sheila, and I am still in what I consider my younger years, does traveling and moving to other places add value to your life?
Not sure if I am phrasing the question right, but I do value your input. I guess I am feeling a bit "pigeonholed" in my current position in life.
I agree. I DID know the real D.D. and even though he was good on the 'outside' he was dirty on the 'inside' like most of his family is (with the exception of his mother)
funny how some people can pull the wool over other peoples eyes & be so evil... come to think of it , it's not funny, is it? it is ironic that things like this still take place in this community. at least they catch some of them now.
I am glad that 362 will be known as Pike County Veterans Memorial Parkway! May we never forget those who have fought and died for our freedom! I am the mother of one of those that died while serving our country, Lance Cpl Jeffrey Walker....RIP Son! I honor and salute them one and ALL!!
These roads are NOT being "renamed", as they are still officially state routes 18, 362 and 109 respectively. They are just being given additional names. They are still, and always will be the official state road number designations. It would be quite confusing to people passing through if the roads were actually renamed.
