With all the budget issues that plague the county how is it feasible for the county to sponsor a parade? When will the general public realize that government is not in the business of entertainment? I am still flabbergasted about the movie in the park thing and I hope that idea fads real fast, if it already hasn’t. With the current state of the economy every American Citizen ought to have more personal accountability and less reliance on Uncle Sam.

The only cost of the parade is the gas used in the vehicles. Most of the vehicles will belong to private citizens. Celebrating America's independence is worth a few dollars in gas. God Bless America! Hope to see everyone out there!

You did not think out what you had to say before you said it. Like 2 said most of the vehicles are private citizens paying for their own gas celebrating this great holiday. Nobody wants you at the movies either. Flabbergasted? LOL wow

Hello!!!! It is the principle and you don’t get it. Fuel cost money for the fire service and for the extra patrol cars along with extras like wear and tear etc. I know it is hard for idiot savants to comprehend but I thought I would try. I didn’t realize there were some many governmental dependant leaches in Pike, “My Bad.”

If you do not mind riding in a truck we will pick you up. Stand on the front porch and look for a bright red fire truck. Unless you prefer a sheriffs hot chase hemi car.

It is not a shack. Quite comfortable, central air, 2 1/2 baths and best of all the property taxes were paid last year in full. But we will still give you a ride to the parade if your dad's truck still has no tag and insurance.

Hopefully there will be a large float for our beloved President Obama. This needs to be the only float in the parade. Obama 2012 and forever!!!!!!!!!

More onlookers might attend if the parade was held in the morning instead of the heat of the day.

Nothing like getting early for a good spot and then having a big truck pull up to the intersection, park in the road, and ruin the view. Fat grandmother with fat kids scrambled for the candy. They blocked the view too.

Look, them trucks cant be in 2 places at once. Some ride in the Griffin parade @ 10am (free fuel) then as far as the heat,no problem, those new trucks have A/C.
