At a time when many Americans can barely afford Burger King and a movie, Obama boasts of spending a billion dollars on his re-election campaign. Questioned at a recent appearance about the spiraling fuel costs, Obama said, "Get used to it" - and with an insouciant grin and chortle, he told another person at the event, who complained about the effect high fuel prices were having on his family, to "get a more fuel-efficient car."

Isn't every politician in DC and around the country doing this. Ms. Tolley, thank you once again for showing your true color. I guess you think others will follow an idiot if he is black but black, white, green or brown you are what you are.
The race card is getting smaller and smaller and is becoming meaningless. People now play the race card if their dinner is over-cooked.

i've been called racist many times yet i fully support herman cain for president. ms. tolley was called racist because she submitted an article by an african american who disagrees with the president.

ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but
then government takes all the reward away, no one will try or even want to succeed.

Your disability may prevent you from doing one thing, but not all things. You're able to comment on a post. Obviously you can type, so you can work.
Nobody other than you benefits from your loan modification. If you didn't live in that house, somebody else would. You listed all the utilities as beneficiaries from your benevolent payments. You paid for services rendered. It's not like you donated to them.
If you have received one penny more than you paid in for your disability checks, you don't need to thank Obama, you need to thank me and every other taxpayer who contributes to your upkeep. After all, it's not the government's money, it's the taxpayers. It's this sense of entitlement and lack of responsibility harbored by you and far too (note the correct use of the word) many others that is rotting this country from within.

As far as his disability I can not comment. I do not know the man or his medical history. So the only thing "obvious" about that comment is your jealousy and hatred. I heard that tone somewhere before though. Let me guess Elcee. Are you one of them Christians?
I fully understand what a mortgage modification is, and I applaud Mayhem and anybody who pays off ALL the debt they signed on for. I have family members who hid their cash, sent the 'jingle mail' to the bank and used their cash to buy a home out-right when they should have used it to pay their obligations. That's a sleazy, fraudulent thing to do and I hope they have to answer for their wrong-doing.
My point was and is that he's not doing anybody a favor by staying in his home and Obama isn't doing him a favor because his bank arranged a work-out plan, either.
Mayhem says he's financially secure, but then says he needed a modification because his government check was slow and he depends on it to get by. So "financial security" comes from the government?
Two things: (1) You're not doing anybody a favor by paying your bills, even if you have to work out an alternate payment plan to live up to your commitments. If you don't live up to them, somebody else has to pay, and it's NOT the government, because the government gets 100% of it's money from the people who pay taxes. (2) Financial security doesn't come from the government. The minute you depend on government for your financial well-being, you are beholden to lick the boots of Obama (or whom ever holds that office) and every government employee between him and you. It's best not to give up a lot of your freedom in exhange for a little security.

Such modifications are made possible through the Homeowner Stability Initiative. Taxpayer funds amounting to $75 billion will be spent in order for home loan modifications to be made available. It is anticipated that between 3 and 4 million homeowners will be assisted through this plan.
I work in the financial industry. Banks are here to make money. Period.

Under this Stability Initiative borrowers with a ratio of mortgage debt service to income greater than 31 percent can have their mortgage interest rate reduced to as little as 2 percent if that is what it takes to achieve the 31 percent ratio-with government paying half the subsidy and the investor/lender surrendering the other half. If this concession is insufficient to reach 31 percent, then the servicer (as opposed to the lender/investor holding the mortgage) can lengthen the term of the loan and/or reduce the principal amount owed to achieve the 31 percent. Eligible borrowers may also have loans that are as much as 50 percent greater than the value of the house.

Im not sure if you are aware of how politics works but the ALL say what they need in order to be elected. No matter how pure their intentions, once they get to Washington it all goes down hill.
Our elected officials do not run this country. Big business and special interests are in control. Our system is set up so that campaigns are financed and then the politician is owned by their highest contributor. Again, follow the money trail. There are people who have been very successful after the economic downturn. Focus your anger on those people.
IF, big businesses ran this country, we would be making a profit not losing money ($1.5 TRILLION in deficit). IF, big business ran this country, they wouldn't be taxed in the top 5 for business taxes in the world. IF, big business ran this country, it would be business friendly instead of legislating everyone off-shore.
