County manager Bill Sawyer named Randy Snyder as interim fire chief and Mike Singleton and Mike Grant as deputy fire chiefs after Danny Henderson was terminated effective Jan. 1. He said it will take about two months to name the new fire chief.

As a professional fire/medic I can say the county fire department will benefit from having Mike Grant aboard. With his vast knowledge of EMS and the fire service in general the citizens of Pike are lucky to have such a professional. Good luck Mike.

Glad to see someone that is all about moving forward. I am sick of hearing all these dummies on here that keep dreaming about going backwards.

Hey Dip Sh!t it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. The post didn’t say he was born or raised here did it? Maybe he moved here from another town then became a volunteer. Are you the village idiot or a sulking Danny supporter? I know firsthand Mike is well respected in Clayton for his EMS knowledge and teachings. Actually he will be more of an asset than Danny was.

Nobody is ever happy. Mike Grant is a great guy and I would have to chime in I have not ever heard a bad thing about him. I have met him and he is super nice. But he is not the Fire Chief he is just one of the assistants and he does not get paid he volunteers. No big deal here. He is going to help train and if he is ever called out to one of your loved ones he will do one incredible job helping with whatever the problem is. Danny is gone. There are a lot of Clayton County Fire Personel who live in Pike and they dont Volunteer for various reasons. But the county is covered up with Experienced Career Fulltime Firefighters/EMT/Paramedics who choose not to volunteer but I know many of them and if they run across a situation they will help.

All true about Grant.

BUT, "Experienced Career Fulltime Firefighters/EMT/Paramedics" rarely "run across a situation" other than MVC's. Even if they do, although they might have encyclopedic knowledge of what needs to be done, they can usually be of little real help without medical equipment or firefighting gear. About the only thing they can offer is first aid or CPR just like any citizen that knows the basics.

That's not a condemnation, just a simple fact. I know because it applies to me as well. I don't have the free time required to make the necessary commitment right now, but hopefully I will in the future.
