what will happen to the 90+/-% of the federal employees that would be unemployed should we actually follow through with an audit and fire the people who are superfluous?
These guys at "The Augusta Chronicle" have read the Constitution haven't they? They know that we can amend it, right?
-------------
Article V - Amendment
The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress; Provided that no Amendment which may be made prior to the Year One thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any Manner affect the first and fourth Clauses in the Ninth Section of the first Article; and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.

What was the "first" "Clause in the Ninth Section of the first Article"? (Yeah, they had lawyers to write confusing language back in the 1780's too.)
"The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress..."
"Importation of...Persons". Yeah, that's what you think it is.
"It will then be up to us to get it back where it belongs."
Not that I care where the Heritage Foundation thinks "it belongs", but I don't think we're going "back".
don, you are a bit far afield today but i will try to address what you've written.
corporations, the heritage foundation, these are private organizations funded with private money and have nothing to do with the gross misuse of government power currently going on in washington, dc.
yes, the constitution can be amended with the appropriate votes and the support of 2/3 of the states. however, none of the votes currently being cast in dc that are usurping the constitution have been posed as constitutional amendments. had they been, they would have been soundly defeated. health care for instance. 70% of the american people opposed it. yet, the democrats voted for it anyway. without reading it no-less. had it not been for PRIVATE foundations such as heritage, the american people would not have even been aware of what it contained or the long term affect it would have on our economy and government structure.
don, it seems to me like you have a difficulty in distinguishing between the limited powers (as originally framed by the constitution) of the federal government and private industry. they are not the same thing.
government can only give you what it has previously taken from someone else. if you want to live your life off the backs of other peoples work, you miss the point of being american.
"Heritage is primarily funded through donations from private individuals and charitable foundations. Businessman Joseph Coors contributed the first $250,000 to start The Heritage Foundation in 1973. Other significant contributors have included the conservative Olin, Scaife, DeVos and Bradley foundations."
If you'd like to check into those names, you'll find they all earned their money the old-fashioned way -- they inherited it. It's no wonder they want to call the Estate Tax the "Death tax" is it? But you can try to explain to Southern "conservatives" that beer is financing all their think tanks if you like. :)
the best thing about the heritage foundation is the are a "think" tank. something the democrats are having a lot of struggles with right now. and if you really want to scare the pants out of someone, take a look at where the democrats are getting their money.
and you are correct. polls can be made to say just about anything you want. but, according to the folks at ruth's, 90% of the people did not want obummercare.

Let's look to Constitution for guidance on the proper place of electronic communications in our society.

While we're there, why don't we see what the Constitution says about right-wing think tanks (aka The Heritage Foundation)?

Fat,

"The Heritage Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization..., and contributions are tax-deductible for income, gift, and estate taxes."
That "private money" is tax deductible. And you're right, it is private money.
