I'm thankful for 2 weeks of schoo2l buses not pulling out in front of commuters(below Flash) and doing a Grannie Turn on old Meansville road each afternoon.

It is never about the gift; it is always about the Giver.
Are we able to take our eyes off inanimate objects (that may or may not be what we want) and REALLY appreciate the person giving the gift?
Or, are we so egocentric that we can only think about what we want/desire and what we think we should be getting--and not that another person cared enough to give us something at all?
If all we see is what we get (and how we get it)...we won't ever be truly satisfied with what is under the tree.
Why does one person have to chime in on every blog and try to create an argument? It was a simple, fun question and here you go trying to pull a guilt trip on everyone because they are talking about the worst give they ever received. Does that mean they love the gift giver any less? Not at all. Does that mean they didn't see the thought or time it took to buy/make the gift? Nope. Sometime's even though the effort is there, the gift just sucks--plain and simple. Sounds like the only person in need of a little Christmas cheer here is you bud.
Statements like this is why educated writers refrain from using the word "never". I have had at least one life experience where it was about the gift. And I have actually met some children that would agree with me also. Never? That is egocentric vocabulary!
I am not even going to get started on the "always" about the giver part. It also show that this poster is not only showing his opinion of himself but the mindset of others.
You never get anything right. That's one I feel comfortable with.

People don't get what THEY want. The gift doesn't meet THEIR expectations...therefore the gift "sucks!" and THEY don't like it.
It's all about THEM (us), isn't it?
But it really isn't.
It's about the "Giver" taking time out of their busy life and thinking of someone else (us). It's about the virtue the "Giver" demonstrated when doing something that they didn't have to do--for us.
Do we ever stop and think: The "Giver" may not know any better? They may not have the money to afford any better? They may think that it's the greatest thing in the world...and they want us to have it (because they think we're great!)?
Do these things cross our minds? I think not. Most of us (myself included) often have our eyes on the gift and not the person giving the gift. And that is a tragedy.
"Are WE (emphasis added) able to take our eyes off inanimate objects"
Notice the word "WE" in the sentence. It was a reminder to myself as well. "WE" implies a group of people. I didn't say: "Ashley, are YOU able to do this?" I didn't call anyone out. I asked a question. A question that I anticipated people (myself included) pondering in the privacy of our own soul.
But I certainly understand why you thought it was about you...and felt the need to justify your thoughts on the matter.
So, rest assured: it wasn't about you, Ashley. In fact:it rarely ever will be. And it's rarely about me either (something that I've learned over time. Mostly the hard way...).
Remember the old saying: "It's the thought (the mental attitude of: love, respect, friendship, loyalty, appreciation, gratitude and honor) that counts."
Maybe, just maybe, they were on to something.
As for the rest of your comment: it was such an exaggeration and filled with so many inaccuracies...I don't even know where to start...
Actually, I do: I will leave it alone. I'm not going to split hairs with you.
Instead: Merry Christmas, Ashley! And Happy New Year!
Y-A-W-N, YAWN, yawn ... It's not that you are saying anything that is wrong. It just that you are beating everyone over the head with your words .... ouch ! ouch !
Jesus is the reason for the Christmas celebration. Some how the words in red in the Bible seem to indicate joy, peace, and Love for the Son of God.

You know, even if you have made several good points, your message is mostly lost in all that copy/paste word-salad you seem so fond of tossing around. A simple blog about goofy gifts and you go off on a tangent, showing off.
There is nothing wrong with sharing past Christmas memories, good or bad. Lay off the show-off and go have a cup of eggnog or something.
Pride goeth before a fall. In fact, some could consider pride to be the deadliest sin of them all.

The Bus Drive on West Road has to be hitting Sixty some afternoons down the dirt road.
I have never gotton a bad gift, they have all been welcome. I hope that I have never given one. If I have, it certianaly was not on purpose.
Merry Christmas

Downright insulting......
