The wheels are finally moving on the Jamie Weis murder trial after four years of delay in defense funding and a petition for certiorari going all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Judge Tommy Hankinson presided over the Oct. 15 status hearing in which the defense filed three motions. The judge set another hearing for Nov. 30 to discuss any other motions and jury selection.
Jamie Weis is escorted back to the Pike County jail after an Oct. 15 status hearing.

IN GOD WE TRUST
I am kinda like the Pike Patriot Homeowner, I want to "See Fireworks" and a "BIG Show".
30 minutes later;
After smokin a "dubie" I figure that sitting at home and reading about the dog and pony show is just fine. So, I will forgo all the hoopla and wind down some more.
peace out Pike :)

Or are you in a position to know, and just shared proprietary information?
GOD HELP PIKE COUNTY
Oh, did I mention he bakes biscuits and likes to hang around the brass at fire houses.
122,394 yeah right.
You are an evil person Jamie Weis.....I cannot fit all my opinion here...I will write to the Editor.
You COLD BLOODIED MURDERER.
God will serve the real sentence. He doesn't make plea deals.
You are a slime ball Jamie Weis.
I have to agree his family didn't commit the crime. They have no control over what he does or did. No one should judge them for his actions.
I'm not on the Jury and I don't know enough about it to judge him. I don't know what evidence they have against him. How ever I think he may be guilty.
If he was innocent, I feel he would be raising Cane over it. He would want the truth out there for all to see. I feel he's just trying to prolong his life. The longer it takes to get convicted the longer he lives. That's if the death penalty applies.
It is amazing that he killed Catherine King with ease but failed to commit suicide four times. He is a cold bloodied murderer. A loser, an abuser, a tax debt for Pike County citizens, his defense team at this point should work pro-bono. Since, in Latin, that means "for the public good" that is not really the proper term.
Have you seen The Devil wears Prada? He doesn't....he wears an orange jump suit with a number stamped on back.
You can come and enjoy reading the real scripts with me. But to save time please first learn to read and comprehend: Hebrew, Aramaic and Koine Greek. There is no need to waste your time on Latin in this case. That was a translation from the original three languages.
Now get on back to your porno flick.
I am sure you are right. That is probably why Jamie has tried to commit suicide four times. He is in a hurry to get to Gloryland. Can you sneak a weapon in so that he can expedite his trip? I think it is cruel and unusual punishment that he keeps suffering in his suicide attempts. Don't you? "Let your ppl go."
all you have to do is clean it up. as we clean up the BOC, maybe we can clean up the bat quano.
If the Devil danced in evil pockets, he'd sure have a ball in yours.
When I can pray to you and call you God then you arew MORE than welcome to play the part until then your point loses just a bit of the validity that you seek to give it .
The last time I checked murder is murder. Should he be given the death penalty, is the executioner to join him when he passes?
How many people has been allowed to murder for the sake of justice... or .. wait... maybe that was for the sake of payment. Paychecks are wonderful to get in this economy.
It ain't Burger King Baby. You cannot have it without pickles. Use all the Bible or leave it alone.
And the last time I checked...judging is judging. You have judged me so I hope you get that right with God before you leave for Gloryland.
You would have thought after having your wonderful Real Christian Mother-In-Law around for so long you would have learned a few Real Christian actions. At least through osmosis.
Does that mean that a person who serves on the jury is going to Hell? Is the Judge going to a hotter Hell?
Why did you stop putting your last name on the blogs? If you are ashamed of Jesus...he will be ashamed of you.
Remember, Love thy neighbor..so you should be loving me. My Jesus don't like ugly.
When you get back from church, read this? Perhaps you will find real redemption today. Just remember there are 31,173 verses in the Holy Bible. Jesus don't like pickers and choosers.
Are there still a lot of little stones in your back yard? It should be clean with the amount you have thrown. God will get you for that. Now say your blessing, repent and enjoy a nice Christian Dinner with the family.
I love you Betty Sandefur and I miss you as my neighbor. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
Quit playing with The Holy Bible, Donna. Jesus gave us a brain to guide us in decisions. The Bible as you read it today has been edited, revised and rewritten so much, to please each King and Priest, that Jesus probably does not recognize all of it.
This is my favorite verse. It probably made it through all the editing and remained pretty stable.
John 3:16 (King James Version)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
You choose any belief or lack of belief that fits your comfort zone. But I would appreciate not being tossed in that Truck to Hell with you.
They would elect to judge you as Guilty of using another person's name.
i know that's not how it works in YOUR obama world but that is how the actual world works.
Now, Be Gone Evil One. Go and count your money!
This does not mean that all preachers of the Gospel are bad. If you think that people do not go to church, try The Church of the Nazarene on Oliver Road (I love that church)or the one on Vega Road, my nephew sings there. He has an absolutely beautiful, God given, voice. Go early so you can get a seat at either of these churches. Or get on board with the ones I mentioned earlier. They will need to hire a lot of people to help them shove their stolen millions through that eye of the needle.
One more thing, Once was Lost. It sounds as if you may still be lost. If you cannot take the heat...don't follow that road to Hell.
I am quite sick of you people jumping me, Donna included, about the Bible. I love God and believe that there were original Holy and Sacred Scripts written by prophets. But I do not believe that they made it through 1500 years of editing followed by 1500 years of translations, all done by men, tossing out and adding in, in order to come to an acceptable version for King James to approve, that The Holy Scripts were not RAPED of some of their integrity. Look at today's politics and tell me that you are gullible enough to believe the "Ghost of Scriptures Past."
The 66 books of the Bible were written, on three continents, in three languages by about 40 different people (kings, shepherds, scientists, ATTORNEYS, an army general, fishermen, PRIESTS, and a physician),over a period of about 1,500 years, on the most controversial subjects, by people who, in most cases, had never met, by authors whose education and background varied greatly.
(I capitalized Attorneys (because we all want the most crooked one we can find when we need them) and Priests(because even TODAY, the PRIESTS will not agree to a zero tolerance to molesting young boys.)
Now all you hypocrites hear this, I do not need your approval to get to Heaven. God's opinion will be very sufficient. All you people who Judge me or my blogs and then toss in "I should not Judge because of that one verse that you remember" need to work on getting your heart right with the Lord. It will be sad if YOU do not make it to Heaven...so that we can continue our little conversation.........then the one and only real God can be the JUDGE.
A TRUE CHRISTIAN NEVER HAS THE NEED TO TELL ME THAT THEY ARE CHRISTIANS. I PREFER TO LOOK AT THE LIFE THEY HAVE LED OVER MANY YEARS. OF THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED, OZARLEAN BARRON, JEWEL REEVES AND MISS RUBY KILLINGSWORTH ARE MY TOP THREE LADIES.
Now HYPOCRITES, maybe you can win me over......go and gather 40 men (from the occupations shown above) and ask them to tell you what they would like on their pizza. If the lists are all the same...YOU WIN!
The stupidity of some bloggers never ceases to amaze me.

That verse has nothing to do with our civil duty to serve on juries (both civil and criminal).
>and let he who is free of sin cast the first stone.
Again, nothing to do with our civil and criminal justice system. The Lord Jesus Christ was addressing the religious and legalistic members of their Sanhedrin about their evil and distorted views of the law.
> The last time I checked murder is murder. Should he be given the death penalty, is the executioner to join him when he passes?
The right of the state to exercise capital punishment has nothing to do with murder--laws and punishment are for the protection of society. And by the way: self-defense and/or killing your enemies in times of combat.
And before you even start...
Please see how The Lord Jesus Christ will bring peace when He returns...here's a hint: it won't be with soft words.
I think the same can be safely said for any group of people (or person) who tries to justify their bad behavior. Christians do not have a monopoly on this sort of thing. However, Christians are the ones usually attacked about it...
This is because the devil always wants to make a mockery of grace and to get people off the message and onto the man (and his failures). However, it is NEVER the man...unless that man is the person of our Lord and Savior: Jesus Christ. He is the only man that matters...everything else and everyone else is just a distraction (when your eyes are on them).
>Christians have the the highest amount of clueless followers than any other religion.
Biblical Christianity is NOT a religion. Religion is man trying to gain the approbation of God through works and deeds. Religion is always about man. Biblical Christianity is always about God and His grace. It is about God coming to us, not us getting to Him.
But are they generally confused? Yes, they often are. God's grace has been perverted into religion and legalism. Man always tries to add something to God's perfect plan and system. False doctrine is blasted from the pulpits. Is it any wonder that so many are confused and misguided. Does that make it right? No! But again: It is about the Lord Jesus Christ and not what other people do.
>Muslim extremists come in second place. But the extremists are truly clueless which means they will actually make it to heaven.
Being "clueless" doesn't get you to heaven. Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ--that He was our substitute and His death provided our atonement is what gets a person into heaven.
>These Christians who know right from wrong and still choose to do wrong are a different story.
Be not deceived, God is not mocked. We get away with nothing. The Superior Court of Heaven is always in session and as we sow...we will also reap. And don't think that prosperity can't be a punishment. It can be amount the worst when you have no capacity and appreciation for it.
>They think their "We are all sinners" crap is a license to kill amongst other sins.
1 John 1:9 is never a license to sin, but rather: a license to serve. We all fall short of the glory of God. We all sin. We all are tempted with our areas of weakness, but God's grace is bigger than ANY of our failures.
Do some Christians abuse this? You bet they do. It does happen. But God is still not mocked. Again: it does not matter what others do and how they try to circumvent the spiritual life. God will handle them.
>An extremist sacrifices his own life to God. A Christian just takes for his/her own gain and satisfaction
Again, that can be said about any group of people--not just Christians. But remember: people make themselves their own god when they claim themselves as the highest authority. This is a problem in the soul...not with Biblical Christianity.
>Even refuses to do his/her best to uphold ten of his commandments. Making it also the most selfish religion to date.
On the contrary the Lord Jesus Christ performed the most unselfish act in history: He laid down his life for the people whom He loved--all of humanity--to provide their salvation.
If you focus on what other people do (or don't do), you will always be let down, disappointed, bitter and even angry. And worse: you will be compromised and distracted to the invisible angelic conflict that wages around us all.
When you focus on people your life becomes a casualty--you completely miss the boat. Grow in GRACE and the KNOWLEDGE of our Lord and Savior...that is our mandate and that is our purpose.
Just read my sweet blogs. They show I have God and Love in my heart.
Good night sweet thang, say your prayers.
I sympathize with victims, not murderers. Yep, it could be my friend one day, Michelle. Your mother could be in a grave like Mrs. King one day, would you respect the Jamie Weis's of the world then?
I guess Catherine King just should not have been home that night, huh?
When he gets his tiny sentence and he will in a few years, our justice system will be sure of that, I hope Mrs. King's family pops him with a wrongful death suit that makes the Goldman's suit on OJ look like a heating bill in August.
Mayhem, I'm not sure who you are, but I'm not here to support you, your opinions, or to advance your point of view. I posted on this thread to offer what is known as "Apologetics" for Biblical Christianity and to attempt to demonstrate the grace that I have been blessed with. To let others know that God loves them...despite their failures.
I don't care who they are (or what they've done) the Lord Jesus Christ was sent here for their sins just as much as he was the pillar of 'good' society.
I am not on your side and I'm not here to prop you (or anyone else..) up. I am not being rude, but I am making it very clear: I'm not looking for an online "mutual admiration society" or trying to create an online cabal here at the Pike County Paper. Just here to insert a little Divine Viewpoint into a conversation that is inundated with emotionalism, personal attacks and human viewpoint.
>It is people like Sheila Tolley that mock Jesus and his teachings.
I don't know Sheila Tolley and I'm not exactly sure what she thinks--to be honest: I don't really care. I do know this: regardless of what she does or doesn't do: it isn't my job to call her out and straighten her out. I'm pretty confident that God can do His job without my help. I have a spiritual life to live and it is my own. I don't have enough hours in the day to try and live the lives of others.
>Keep the word alive and powerful because people who are pissing all over it are causing it to be weak to the ears of many.
God's word is NEVER weak and it ALWAYS does as He planned for it to do. The only thing "weak" is people and their volition. And when enough people in a country have negative volition then bad things start to happen (have a look around...): The 5 Cycles of Discipline. And just think: we're only in the 2nd or 3rd stage. But...
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
The truly sad thing about drugs isn't that people use them to escape from reality--yes, that is bad enough, but they steal your volition from you soul. The more you use them...the less choices you make from your rational mind and the more you become like an animal.
Please note: this is not justification for bad decisions and/or criminal behavior--the "user" still made a decision to do drugs. Whether they truly understood the consequences of their decision is irrelevant--they did it. I'm merely pointing out that the more you use...the more of your volition you give away.
>he isnt who hes being made out to be.
Michelle, surely you can see that he made a a bad decision--a decision that not only has consequences, but criminal and legal repercussions. And like it or not: people will remember him for that decision.
That can't be changed.
I'm pretty sure that most of us have a few things that we'd like to have back if we could (I know that I do!). Things that people will not let go of and always throw up in our faces. That's just people.
And people's opinions don't (ultimately) matter.
What matters is God and His grace. The Lord Jesus Christ died for this person, for you, for me and for everybody. He died for ALL of our sins. Now, legalists will try to beat you with the fact that some people are just too bad/evil for God.
What arrogance!
Nothing we do is greater than what God has done for us through the saving work of Jesus Christ on the Cross.
"God [The Father] made Him [ The Lord Jesus Christ] who had no sin to be sin for us [to be our substitute], so that in Him [The Lord Jesus Christ] we might become the righteousness of God. "
"Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved."
"You are saved by grace, not by works, lest any man should attempt to brag about it."
That is your hope. That is your encouragement. That is what you concentrate on--not people.
But please understand: Forgiveness of sin doesn't mean that there isn't a penalty for our actions. If a crime has been committed then punishment must be served. But be of good cheer, God causes ALL things to work together for the good for those who love the Lord. Not some of them. Not a select few. ALL things.
>ppl need to look n the mirror b4 u judge someone u dont know.he is human and knows he done wrong.
Trying to prevent people from judging others would be like trying to hold back the waves from crashing on the shore. You can't do it. Tongues are going to wag. Fingers are going to point. Stones will be thrown...
It is pointless to try and stop it. People always want to look at the wrongs, failures and crimes of other people. It is always easier to focus on others than it is to take a good and long hard look at ourselves--it's painful (at least if we're honest about what we see).
But you can have the "peace that passes all human comprehension (a relaxed mental attitude) knowing that God knows all and He sees all: He will sort it all out.And no matter what we've done: Nothing can snatch us from his Righteous right hand.
Judging Others
Lk. 6.3738, 4142
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
6 ¶ Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
Now, Be Gone evil hypocrites. My Jesus does not like hypocrites. Take that elephant out of your eye before responding. And if you would not make that same comment in front of Jesus, keep it to yourself.
But Jesus said, "forgive them Father, for they know not what they do" as they crucified him? Right.
Are you equal to Jesus? I am not. Do you have Jesus' power of forgiveness, I do not.
So therefore, I hope the two remaining (or more) who have brutally murdered people receive equally brutal sentences.
I hate not one person in this whole world. I have feelings that fall within four categories. Respect, Disrespect, Love and Like.
My Respect and Love list are real short ....comparatively speaking.
Merry Christmas to all as we celebrate the conception of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
BUT now I am grown and I can say stupid, Stupid.
That is justice in our new world.
If I murder a person for unjustified causes, I hope I have friends like you backing me.
If I murder for justified causes, I would not need friendly support, just a fair judge and jury.
And of coarse David Copperfield to magically create those 13 fair people.
Why do you continue to respond to an idiot such as myself? Have you no self-control? Get you some.
Way down in numbers, number 2 goes to "Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-Tung" with 900 million sold copies.
In spot number 10, with 30 million sold, you will find "Valley of the Dolls" by Jacqueline Suzanne. I have that book and it is good (but it doesn't touch The Bible). I enjoyed the movie made from this book many, many years ago with Patsy and Richard Jones. (Hello, you two, I hope you have a merry Christmas)
If I recall correctly, Sharon Tate played in the movie. She was later killed by Charles Manson's gang, she was over 8 months pregnant and her baby was cut from her womb. Mean people have always been around. They are just so readily accepted these days. So sad.
But it ain't my son in this case. It is Jamie Weis. The murderer of an elderly next door neighbor, because she was home.
P.S. And when Jesus decided to turn water into the most crippling drug known to man kind his drinking buddies will confess to seeing him doing stuff from healing blind folk to walking on water!
I share your same opinion. I like you because you uphold my religion also that uses the Bible for a doorstop.
> You have a wonderful gift of expression and the ability to make complexities easy to understand.
I was having such a hard time explaining to people that even though Jesus said if you love him to keep the Ten Commandments holy, that it is not important to being a Christian. Loving Jesus would then cramp my selfish lifestyle and I can not have that. You make desecrating the Ten Commandments sound like no big deal. Non-Biblical Christianity will not only be easier for me to uphold it will be much easier for me to understand.
> You should write a book
It sounds like you can write a book that will not cause me to sacrifice anything. I would make this book my new Bible. This way I will not have to be a self-proclaimed Christian. I can be a Non-Biblical one.
>Good Blog
This blog actually upholds mine and every other hypocrites view toward having to uphold the Ten Commandments and everything else Jesus was trying to accomplish. I am just dying to hear more.
While there certainly isn't anything wrong with a strong fundamental approach to scripture...I don't recall the Lord Jesus Christ telling me which day I am mandated to attend church.
And don't even try to talk to me about the Sabbath...
If you don't understand the concept of "dispensations" then there really isn't any point. We are not Israel. We are not spiritual Israel. We are the Church. And here in America...our laws are the Constitution of the United States all the way down to our local ordinances...not the Mosaic law.
Sure, we incorporate many of the same aspects of the Mosaic Law because God is the author of Divine Establishment principals: Protection of your person and family, property and privacy, but we are not under the Mosiac Law.
Incidentally, the Mosaic Law was the GREATEST gospel message (apart from the first advent of Christ) that God has ever given. It was meant to prove that man isn't good enough to live up to God's standards. It was meant to demonstrate that we fall short. That we can't do it on our own. That we are guilty. It was meant to show our need for a savior and not to show how righteous and holy we are for (trying to) keep it.
We can't keep it all--it is impossible. And if we've broken one part--JUST ONE LITTLE TINY PART--then we've broken it all.
Making issues out of non-issues distracts people from what is really important: Faith Alone in Christ Alone. Then to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior.
>And your self-proclaimed selfish religion is about man.
ALL religion is about man.
> Funny that man made it easier than what the Bible intended it to be.
Hardly. Faith Alone in Christ alone is the easiest thing in the world. Man has distorted God's word into a bunch "Do's" and "Dont's" and works and deeds. Man makes nothing about God easier. Being "moral" is not the Christian way of life. However, morality will be a byproduct of living the spiritual life.
>But that is human nature. Isnt it?
Actually, the human nature is just sinful and rebels against God.
>Where would all these homosexuals go to worship if they did not have man to piss on Biblical Christianity.
I believe we probably have a very different idea about what "worship" really is. Worship is way more than: singing, clapping, holding your hands up in the air and swaying like your in some kind of trance. Worship is taking God's word in (gnosis) and transferring it by faith into your soul (epignosis) and applying it to your life. That is the ultimate form of worship. Not too much worship going on in America these days...
If homosexuals (And for that matter: people who have a trend towards legalism or antinomianism--the word of God doesn't discriminate...) go to "worship" and actually get a little gnosis that turns into epignosis...there just might be some change in their lives. God's word tends to do that to people. Of course that change in mental attitude is always predicated upon: positive volition to the word being taught.
But we don't have a whole lot of that either...
> They do not mind taking things out the Bible that uphold their own beliefs. But if its something they do not support the Bible becomes a doorstop again
All religions that claim to be "Christianity" do this--Not just homosexuals. And it isn't just major religions, denominations and sects: I know plenty of sweet little old ladies (who aren't gay by the way) who love to proof text God's word in order to beat you over the head with scripture. They do this to make you conform to their idea of what being righteous and holy is. They project their piety so that others can marvel and how wonderful and spiritual they are.
These same sweet and good people will gossip, malign and judge others...and do it under the guise of "we're going to pray for them." And they turn other people away from the gospel. And that is the true tragedy. Not some mixed up person who is confused about their sexuality.
It is easy to condemn the homosexual, because their sins are so overt and in your face, but the mental attitude sins and the sins of the tongue are the ones that are so damaging and destructive. And they come from all places. Even the good side of town...
"Renewing your mind" comes from God's word. That is what we all need (including the homosexual) and not attacks and resentment. Persecuting people doesn't bring about change..only bitterness and resentment.
Change comes from hearing the word of God.
Readers:
Grace is always attacked because it is what God did (and continues to do) for us. We don't deserve it. We don't earn it. We will never be good enough for it. But God gives it. You mention grace to a religious and legalistic person and you can watch their face contort, turn all shades of red and look like they have bad heart burn. They want nothing to do with that. The question is: Why?
The answer is simple: That means that they don't have anything to do with what God has done for us. And they can't comprehend that....they're just "so good that it hurts" and surely God knows it--He must! And they want you to know it too. That's why they're always telling you how to live your life...
What arrogance. To think that we have something to offer God. That God needs us. That we're God's right hand (wo)man. That God depends on us to get around and get things done.
The truth is: none of us are good enough. We all fall short of the glory of God. None are righteous...no not even one. Our righteousness is like a filthy rag ("filthy" is a euphemism: you should hear what it actually says in the Hebrew...)
And yet...
God and His grace still found a way. He sent the Lord Jesus Christ to be our substitute and pay the penalty for sin. Our sins were poured out on Him and judged. All you have to do is say in the quietness of your soul: "Father I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that He died for me. And I am trusting by faith that You will honor your word."
You don't have to walk the aisle. You don't have to go kneel at the front of the church. You don't have to shake the preachers hand. You don't have start telling people all the horrible things that you've done and how you won't ever do them again. You don't have to give money to the church. You don't have to give money to the building fund. You don't have to buy the DVD's and MP3's that they're selling. You don't have to go out and stand on the street corner with a sign. You don't have to go out and try and round people up for Jesus. You don't have to burn all your books, dvds and CD's.
You don't have to do anything. Anything that you do gets in they of God's grace. It isn't about what we do...it is all about what God does for us.
Those things are all works and they have nothing to do with salvation. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Then pray and ask God to send you to a qualified pastor who studies and teaches what the word of God actually says--one who isn't just trying to build an empire here on earth and preying (not praying) that you keep coming back.
Readers:
This is nothing but an ad hominem statement that is designed to bait an emotional reaction from the parties it is referencing (myself and another writer on this post). When truth can't be refuted...people attempt to make it personal by attacking the character of the person doing the communicating with sarcasm and snarkiness. However in this care, the writer used an implied accusation--the writer doesn't actually come out and say what is really on his/her mind...it's just implied).
And that is fine.
I don't mind being attacked because I have a problem solving devices for situations like these. In fact all Christians have numerous problem solving devices for these little situations. It's a pity they aren't being taught from the majority of the pulpits in America.
How do you deal with people testing?
1. You apply God's promises to the situation. Example: "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake." and "Vengeance is mine. I will repay."
2. This allows you to take your focus off the attacker and direct your attention toward God and His infallible word.
3. You know that God can't tell a lie. So, we know that we will be blessed for enduring persecution. And we know that we don't have to retaliate because the Supreme Court of Heaven is in session and God will handle it.
4. Therefore, we don't have to get all bent out of shape about the attacker and what they said (or did). We are able to apply impersonal love (you can't love everyone personally) to the attacker and go about our business. Impersonal love doesn't put value on the object (the person attacking), but it puts value on the Character of God and allows you to overlook the faults of others and to forgive them--Just ash God has forgiven us.
I am able to overlook these sort of attacks because I know how horrible of a person I am and how greatly I fall short from God's perfect standards.
Furthermore, I know that any attacks and suffering are but for a minute in this life and they are NOTHING compared to eternity. I want to live my life in the light of eternity. Again, you take your eyes off man and direct them to God.
I am sure it is me. I hope so. Sing with me.
ABCGEFG, Twinkle, twinkle little star,HIJKLMNOP,
How I wonder what you are,QRSTUV, Up above the world so high, wxyz, Like a diamond in the sky.
I am feeling better already.
"When are you planning on returning home?" One of the men replied, "Probably Hune or Huly."
hahahahahahahaha
Because alcohol is the cheapest test. Once you smell of alcohol, your other influences of drugs are safe.
I have a friend who was stopped by the same cop twice in a three hour time span. He took a breathalyzer both times. Released both times.
His comment to me, "You would think that damn idiot would know I am high on pot."
It isn't a matter of forgiveness with God...sin has been paid for at the cross. Our sins were imputed into the Lord Jesus Christ and judged. The issue is: What do they think of Christ. That's the heart of the matter.
The law will handle the criminal and legal matters. Any failings of our law to deal with criminals is nothing more than a mirror reflection of society and its refusal to orient to God's mandates. The nation begins to slip into the 5 cycles of discipline (which we are doing).
>BUT in the meantime two young ladies were snatched away from life and loved ones in their youth and Mrs. King did not choose to die even though elderly, in such a manner....that is my guess.
And that is horrible. No doubt. But crime and punishment and salvation are two different issues.
>But Jesus said, "forgive them Father, for they know not what they do" as they crucified him? Right.
Yes, that's exactly what He said--and meant! They didn't know what they were doing (or more importantly: who they were rejecting). That's Agape love. To forgive even when wrong is being done to you. The Lord Jesus Christ was wronged. He was beaten for no reason. He was ridiculed. He was killed (His humanity; not His Deity). But He did it for us. He endured the greatest injustice ever known to man--and He did it willingly.
>Are you equal to Jesus?
I am not.
>Do you have Jesus' power of forgiveness, I do not.
I have the potential, but it has to become the reality.
Jesus has mandated us to love and to forgive. He would not mandate us to do something that we are not capable of doing.
Please note: Forgiving does not mean that criminals shouldn't be prosecuted. They should. But forgiveness does mean that we get our eyes off the wrongs and injustices that have been done to us and put them on God. We know that Jesus endured the greatest injustice ever known....and the suffering that we face is but for a minute. We do not allow the wrongs committed against us by others to hijack and derail our spiritual life.
It hurts. It often hurts very badly...
We suffer. Mostly for our own mistakes, but sometimes for wrongs brought against us for no reason.
But we have confidence that God will cause even the most horrible things that happen to work together for the good. We have confidence in our God's ability to judge the situation fairly (because He is the only person to know all the facts and circumstances) and we let Him work it out. And we let the state do their job in prosecuting.
But we don't get our eyes on man. We do our best to keep our eyes on God. And when we slip, we 1 John 1:9 and get back to it. We repeat as necessary.
>My Respect and Love list are real short ....comparatively speaking.
I understand the respect part, but true love endures forever.
I wish you well.
first books discovered were clay tablets made in the 7th century BC.
however the first book printed with Gutenberg's printing press was the bible.
you are getting closer and closer to being right about something. keep working at it. i'm sure as soon as you lose some of your smug arrogance, you will get something 100% correct.
now he's going to be extremely confused for a while.
i've enjoyed reading your posts by the way. you present a good understanding of the Bible and the idea of grace.
We need to understand one another: I'm not looking for you to agree. I don't need for you to agree. You talk to God or god (if you make yourself the highest authority) about what you agree and don't agree with. It is none of my business.
I presented information. It is up to you to either accept or reject it. That's a matter of your privacy and your volition. Not mine.
Now, I understand that you may be used to dealing with "Christians" who want to change you. "Christians" who harass you and tell you "how wrong you are!" and how "you're going to die and burn in hell!" if you don't believe what they're screaming at you.
Well, I'm not one of them.
I can't change you. I don't want to change you.
I can't pressure you into believing like I do. I can't coerce you into believing that Jesus Christ died for your sins.
See, I know: The only true change comes from hearing the word of God and being positive to it--not from outside pressure. I don't score brownie points with God for how many heads I bring in each week to my local church. And I don't get paid for how many arms I twist . I'm not banking a huge salary for all the guilt trips I send people on.
So, you can relax. I don't want to change you.
Now, having said that, No, I don't want people to die without believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, but I also understand: it is their choice. Their freedom. Their privacy. Their life. And I respect that.
So, do as you want. I've fulfilled my mandate.
>But I asked him a simple question and he went on about being a Non-Biblical Christian. Which are more commonly called hypocrites.
The term "Non-Biblical Christian" is nothing more than nomenclature used to differentiate between the actual teaching of the word of God and the religion (man trying to get to God) that many so called "Christians" practice. Now, I only say "so called" because if they haven't believed in the Lord Jesus Christ...they aren't Christian. You can't have "Christianity" without Christ--even if religion tries to do it. It always has been and it always will be: Faith alone in Christ alone--not good works.
Good works are a RESULT of living the Christian/Spiritual life....they are NOT the Christian life itself. Too many Christians try to put the cart before the horse.
A hypocrite would be a person who tells you that drinking is a sin (it isn't...just being drunk), but HABITUALLY ties one on every Friday and Saturday night. You aren't a hypocrite because you slip and sin (or slip and gin!). You're a hypocrite when the life you live doesn't consistently match up to what you try and enforce on others (or proclaim to others that you are..when you aren't!).
See the difference?
One is a perversion of God's word into a religion. The other: an invasion into the lives of others--and refusing to do the very thing(s) they're nagging other people about. Both are evil, but they are not the same thing.
> At least if you are doing any work this Saturday you found yourself another helper!
More implied accusations and snarky little remarks to bait an emotional reaction.
Slap all you want. It is my decision to turn the other cheek. Words do not hurt me. What hurts is taking a long and hard look around at the place that I love and seeing so much locked in negative volition, religion, legalism, animosity and open hostility towards God.
It hurts me very deeply....
So, attack all you want. You are free to ostracize, ridicule, scrutinize, malign and judge...
And believe me: there is plenty for you to find fault with. I assure you--I'm no where near perfect or good. I know what I am: A complete and absolute total failure...who is saved by the grace of God!
You do what you do. And I will do what I do: I will pray for more time for my nation, positive volition and more opportunities to present the greatest story every told: The saving work of my Lord and Savior: Jesus Christ on the cross.
Thank you for your time.
a killer, a thief, a rapist, a liar, and so
on. And if you stick with us you can do these things and still go to heaven. Even though we decided upholding the commandments is not important we feel like keeping the free ticket to heaven is in our best interest. But if Jesus ever catches on to this scheme we might be waiting in that hole in the ground for quite along time. "I already feel a whole lot better mommy. I was feeling so bad after stealing little Joey's candy bar. And even worse when I lied and told him I didnt know where it was. But now that I know that even I am a sinner I feel great about it. And it feels so good to be a part of a group that also have found a way to make themselves feel great about sinning. I will have to tell the principal at school that I am a sinner. Hope he shows me the same compassion as this cult does. And I will be sure to sin every week. This way when preacher man talks about us all being sinners on Sunday I will not feel left out anymore." 1
Anything that a non-believer can do...is NOT the Christian way of life. Keeping the 10 Commandments will certainly make you 'good' and 'moral', but they will not provide your salvation. Plenty of unbelievers are 'good' and 'moral' people, but that is all they are...
And guess what? Our 'goodness' and our 'morality' isn't good enough. It falls short. It misses the mark. Sure, it may impress certain people--BUT...it does NOT impress God. God's righteousness is the only thing that impresses God and that's imputed in to us at the moment of faith alone in Christ alone (along with 39 other things revealed in scripture). See Romans 3:22a:
This RIGHTEOUSNESS is given through FAITH in JESUS CHRIST to all who BELIEVE. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile for ALL HAVE SINNED and FALL SHORT of the glory of God (His perfect essence) and all are JUSTIFIED FREELY by his GRACE through the REDEMPTION that came by Christ Jesus.
Anything that an unbeliever can accomplish through the power of the flesh (willpower, having proper norms and standards, abstaining from something, etc..) is not the Christian way of life. The 10 commandments were meant to govern unbelievers and believers. They also helped to point out that man needs a savior--because we all have broken the law. We all have sinned. Nothing wrong with keeping them. We should. But they don't make us spiritual and they certainly won't save you.
>"But whats a sinner mommy?"
I can't answer for you, but I will share what my answer would be:
We all are baby. We all fall short of God's perfect standards, but don't be upset...there is good news! The Lord Jesus Christ died for us and sin isn't the real issue any longer. Then you walk your child through the whole thing. You break down the concepts of: Atonement, Regeneration, Justification, Propitiation, Substitution, Reconciliation, Redemption, Imputation, Sanctification, etc... for them.
Break these biblical concepts down for a child and you'll be amazed at how quickly they can comprehend them! Why? Because it's LOVE! And they understand love. It is about our Heavenly Father providing everything for us (through grace) and us being helpless to help ourselves--JUST LIKE A CHILD is helpless to himself/herself--they depend of their parents for EVERYTHING. Just like we depend on our Heavenly Father for everything! (As an aside: What happens when young children try to help mommy and daddy out? They often make a mess and make the job much more difficult to do. Yes, we love them, but they make a mess when they try and do our jobs for us! Well, that's how we are when we try and help God...we make a mess and over complicate things)
>A sinner is a killer, a thief, a rapist, a liar, and so on. And if you stick with us you can do these things and still go to heaven.
Yes, they are those things. They are also: a liar, a person who fears, a person who has mental adultery, bitterness, gossip, a malinger, a judger, a person who is jealous, a person who is implacable, on and on and on and on. We are ALL SINNERS.
1 John 1:10: If we claim we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word is not in us.
It is so sad to watch Christians try and twist God's word into nothing but legalism and morality. They put being "good" on a pedestal and they try to keep it out of reach (for others). That gives them the power to project that they are HOLIER and much closer to God than all us poor and horrible sinners.
The Christian way of life is SO MUCH MORE than just morality. It is my prayer that you'll one day experience that.
The rest of your comment is nothing but the moaning, whining, crying and putting words in other people's mouths because that's the only way you can carry on a discussion: pitching a tantrum, hysterics, and trying to confuse the issue.
Readers:
The issue isn't: sin. Sin has been paid for. The issue is: What do you think of The Lord Jesus Christ and His substitutionary death on the cross? That is the issue.
Do not be browbeaten by legalistic people who want you to believe that you aren't worthy of forgiveness. That you've done something so horrible that it is stronger than what God has done for you. That is pure arrogance to think that man can do something that is greater than what God has done for us: The saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross.
You believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you take in His word with positive volition and morality will come. Your thinking will change. Your mind will be renovated. Old things will be put aside and you will become a new creation (with a new way of thinking). But the one important difference is: You will know that it is what God has done (and is doing...) for you and NEVER what you're doing for God. And it is the most wonderful experience in the world. You can have peace in the middle of adversity. You can have confidence in God's ability to hold you up...even in the middle of the storm.
But most importantly: on your death bed: you won't ever worry if you've been good enough to get into heaven. You'll know that your eternal state is secure because of the AMAZING Grace of God!
It is my prayer that all of you will experience that.
