The Pike County Pirates won a wild 42-35 shootout with the Monticello Hurricanes at homecoming Friday night.
The win set up this week's showdown with the Lamar County Trojans in Barnesville in what amounts to a must win game if Lamar hopes to host a playoff game for the second straight season.
Advanced tickets are available at Lamar County High School and middle school as well as Medical Supplies on Main in downtown Barnesville all day Thursday and Friday until 1 p.m. The cost is $5 each. Admission at the gate will be $7.

Pirates quarterback Nate Ferrell concentrates to make a pass over a McIntosh defender in the second game of the season. The Pirates are 5-0 overall and 3-0 in region play.
