Nine dogs and cats were neutered at the Friends of Pike County Animals first spay/neuter clinic, saving the county from dealing with tens of thousands of strays in the next five years. Dr. Christi Ware, who lives in the county, performed the operations at a discounted price for the FPCA spay/neuter clinic.

We can always use volunteers to help sign in animals as well as check them out to the owners. We also have a program "pens for pups". As FPCA gets donations we will purchase pens and install them for foster families that are willing to tend to an animal and help socialize it for adoption (food & vetting is paid for by the rescue organization).
This is all very new to Pike County, so far the response has been overwhelming. People know there is a need and many want to help, they just needed to know how.
You can make donations to FPCA, and you can even specify if you want your money to go to spay/nueter, "pens for pups" or in the general fund. Even small donations (like your pocket change) can help make a difference.
If you need to get an animal fixed sign up early. We are already filled up for the Oct & November clinics.
