Jimmy Carter's utterly stunning conceit -- saying he's "superior" to other ex-presidents for his humanitarian efforts -- isn't the most telling of his recent remarks.

They'll get the most attention, of course, for their unbridled arrogance and scented air of superiority.

I hope some one pays me all this attention when I get old and senile. The guy is probably half way to a dementia diagnosis. If I wanted to listen to an old foolish politician I would have voted for McCain.

Carter will be best remembered for;

Leaving 50 US Citizens hostage in IRAN for 444 days. It took a Republician to simply take the oath of office for them to come flying out of there.

Silly failed attempt to rescue them, two choppers still remain there in the desert. The rescue team forgot to put sand screens over the intakes.

Carter gave our Panama Canal away.

Had a brother Billy and sister Ruth that got a lot of attention.

He could drive a nail.

Let's see: one term Carter vs. two term Reagan. Look back at the election results after first term attempt for re-election of Carter vs. Reagan. Reagan carried 44 states and 50.7% popular vote against Carter. After first term, Reagan was re-elected to a second with 49 states and 58.8% popular vote. Enough said.

Don't stop there, brother. Reagan's economic policy carried us through 2 decades of prosperity - Clinton reaped the benefit of Reaganomics. I'm a HUGE Reagan fan.

However, the article should be focused on Carter's life after his failure as president. Since we (or, since I was only 6 years old at the time, some) Americans voted Carter out he has indeed been a better leader in a lot of ways. What did any of the other retired presidents do that would compare? The truth is, I think Carter has worked so hard since he got fired from his job as president to prove to himself that he can do something good (he just couldn't do "the president job" good).

I just read this book (The Influencer) that referenced the work of the Carter Center's work in Africa. How many ex-presidents have helped cure parasites from villages in Africa? What has Clinton done? What has Bush done? Don't get me wrong, if ANY Bush ran again, I'd vote for them (they were both great presidents). But, after they did their time as president, they pulled back altogether; albeit they did a much better job than Carter. Carter didn't pull back, he's still active and has a positive affect on the world. Carter also apologized for the statement, and clarified he was focusing more on the work through the Carter Center (promoting the work they do) - not necessarily intending to promote himself.

This is a poorly written article and misses the point altogehter. It wasn't supposed to be about how he performed as president, it was supposed to be about his life after that performance.

It sure has. After the first obama nightmarish year. Looking back, I do not think it was ever planned for obama to serve a second term as President. He was scheduled to destroy America in one term, and he has done really good so far in his path of destruction. He will probably commit suicide after his term like the good Muslims do.

He does think he is da man. He thinks he is the Chosen One in Pike County although every candidate he endorses is a loser. Neither of the district 1 candidates even want to be seen with him, political suicide (ask Parrish). His point of view is the only point of view while he operates his web blog. The polls showed the southeast did not even want O'Bama. It was funny to see it localized to that part of the country. So to see him mocked makes sense to me. Its what sore losers do. The southeast is still licking its wounds from getting spanked in the Civil War. O'Bama will do for the country like he has done for General Motors. And to stand up for Bush really shows their ignorance. Sure pretend this country is in this state because of O'Bama. You might as well pretend you folks won the Civil War also. I have nothing to say about O'Bama. I live a good life here in America and believe that success and well being are my responsibility. I know a lot of people are living foul since Bush ran this country into the ground. So I guess I can understand the negitave attitudes. The country is moving forward. Just keep the faith it will soon help you in your situation. If not I guess you will have to continue with your foul life. All I expect from this man is to keep me and my family safe from terrorist attacks. And if O'Bama's Muslim connections are what people say, it sounds like he has that covered. Thats good enough for me. I am responsible for my own success. When I begin failing I can try harder or jump on the Anti-O'Bama, its his fault my life sucks, band wagon.

Please go easy on the Pike Patriot Homeowner. He is either taking too much of his free meds or not enough of them. He will go to the doctor with you, BOC meetings,Planning meetings or to the wing place if you will stop and give him a ride. Just make sure you have plenty of gas and wallet full.
