Commissioners voted unanimously after a lengthy executive session not to issue a call for a November SPLOST but to possibly pursue courthouse renovations in the near future.

Well now, that is just awesome. I am glad the CM and BOC realized this was not going to pass this fall and put it off. I will have to find out where the back door meeting will be held and see how they will reverse this.
I think until we have a majority at the board of commissioners that are conservatives (and actually understand what that word means) there should be no more money going into the coffers for them to spend.
The people of Pike County have spoken on numerous occasions that they want the out of control spending stopped and the increases in taxation stopped and it continues.
Please be specific when you mention "out of control spending". If there is truely a place where spending is running rampant I will help you stop it but using a blanket phrase does not solve or improve anything. Please be specific.
How do you expect taxes not to be raised. It took me a while to figure it out but Pike County loves its "bedroom community". They are against WalMarts and such being built here. So no money will be generated that way. So in that case when they need more money where do you think it has to come from? The people who occupy them Pike County bedrooms. When people realize that they wont be whining about stopping "big city" growth and having to pay more tax in the same sentence. Every other government pisses away hard earned American tax dollars. Why hold Pike to a higher standard. I dont agree with it either, but come on, welcome to America!!
$25,000 per acre for 4 - 5 acres of land in town when they were selling land 2 miles away for $10,000 to build a judicial complex using SPLOST money they did not get.
$800,000 for a gas pipeline for use by a company that had already purchased land in PC so that Atlanta Gas/Light can make a profit.
Covering $250,000 in overspending by the Sheriffs department.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head but I'm sure if you REALLY look into it you could find quite a bit more.
David We stoped that 899,000 for the pipeline. It's dead until at least next year. The BOC learned there lesson on that one. It was a tough fight but the commissioners finally checked my facts and found that they had been lied to by the money people.

JC you need to contact Knight Salvage. They think they have your unit. Might could be repaired through your homeowners insurance company since they do not cover 100%. Talk with Buster.
they stopped the pipeline so that just leaves $285,000 unexplained. But whats $285,000 after a $800,000 concern! you stopped the pipeline? why didnt you stop the other fraud?
