English-Cornwell affair fallout continues

The past president of the State Bar of Georgia has agreed to conduct an investigation to determine whether any criminal cases were compromised by an affair between a chief judge in Fayette County and a public defender assigned to his courtroom.

All of the defendants that were rep'd by Cornwell in English's court after their affair began were denied their constitutional rights. We don't need an investigation to tell us that.

I could understand getting caught in a car in Pike County, we have no No Tell Motels. But in Fayette County they have many. Looks like they are not paid enough to enjoy a motel but they could have pooled their money and saved two careers.

If the Public Defender was doin' the dirty with the judge hearing the case, it's not her (PD's) clients who were denied their constitiutional rights- it's the citizens of this district.

There probably are a few too many "not guilties" walking around out there. After all, what man's gonna' tell his side piece that he's ruled against her?

paschal and kim has imbarrased their families and in their life time all will remember only this. a dirty ole man and woman making woopie in a car in a parking lot. how shameful two pillows of the law stooped to this. only a fool would not believe some of the cases were not contaminated.

Non-reputable careers. The longer the two stayed in office, the more injustice would have been allowed. 450 cases in question. How absolutely horrible. Possible financial exposure of $8 mil dollars. Survivor did not prepare him for this, huh?

The way I see it, the cases that she "lost" which would have caused jail sentences. Were they by selection also. It is just too terrible
and expensive to think about. Unfair length of sentences, no sentence when there should have been, sentences when there should not have been. Terrible....costly.....unfair to citizens and taxpayers. So very UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!!!

not to be contrary, but wasn't she a defense attorney?

It seems that the only people who would have benefited would have been in getting lighter or no sentence.

Maybe the state should retry all the ones that English found innocent.

Judges always order restitution and court costs. I think any cases that have to be heard again should be billed to the judge that caused the problem. It's only fair that they pay restitution and court costs like the rest of us.

Ballard. Yeah, he's the one who helped the child molesters get out of prison on parole.

He also was very resistant in investigating the English/Cornwell debacle and tried to say that Judge Edwards was vindictive.

There is another paper in thomaston too. The thomaston times even lets Ballard run his BS column. Not one news outlet in upson called ballard out about his handling of the whole fiasco. Not one news source push for more info.

They all reported on "the tip of the iceberg."

A murder can be done. It's a accident or suicide now! It depends on how much money or property is involved.

Where do you go when you when the sheriff backs the man, no matter what he has done or how many he's killed!

Just when I thought it was safe to read the paper. Up pops Paschal 'jungle Fever' English...no doubt Johnnie 'the tongue'Caldwell will soon follow. There aint a reality show on tv to match this soap opera. Again all I can say is thank God, Judge Miller and Judge Whalen aint here to see the shame and disgrace these two have brought to our county as well as the whole judicial circuit.

Amen, English and Caldwell have embarrassed us beyond belief with their corrupt buffoonery. Yes, it's a good thing that Judges Whalen and Miller didn't have to witness it.
