When her neighbors on Bottoms Road moved away, Paula Nalley didn’t know they had left five dogs behind until two starving pups were seen near the street. She started feeding them and sent e-mails with pictures of the neglected dogs to her group of friends.

Why aren't they arrested for cruelty to animals?
If cases like this were prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, perhaps others would be less likely to abandon/dump animals for fear of being caught.
Are we that behind in the times? Are we that poor of a county? All other counties find the money? Why cant we? I know how much taxes i pay. I know how much my parents pay. There is no excuse for the people of pike to not have this resource(shelter) available to us.
We need to devise a way to catch and prosecute the people who are dumping these animals.
A fellow I know told me recently that he actually had a dog dumped at his place that still had a collar. When he called the number on the collar, the people weren't even remotely interested in coming and getting their own pet.
We desperately need to repair roads in the county and pave some that have been dirt but have large populations.
It's indeed a shame that we have to spend money on other peoples pets. The people who dump these animals need to know that they are just condemning the animal to several days of suffering and death. They also need to know that if they are caught, they will be prosecuted and fined. $500 per animal would do it.
I'm just sick and tired of spending my tax money on foolishness from people who think the world owes them something.
I have two dogs. They live inside my house with me. If they go out, I go out, to make sure they stay in my yard and out of the road and away from the neighbors. If something happens to them, I'm big enough to admit it will be my own damn fault. Just like your dog getting hit by a car is YOURS.
People who scream for a shelter are many times the same people who let dogs and cats wander around the neighborhood getting shot by people that are pissed off about the dog being loose, or whose dogs are getting hit by cars because nobody cares what the dog is doing during the day when nobody is home.
Pitiful.

I'm glad you enjoyed the music. I know the band was buzzing about it all day Monday. We had a great time just being able to come and worship with everyone.
I never had problems with my dogs leaving their yard until we moved here and it is because people just let their pets wander. So many people here don't properly care for their pets. Then when something happens they are upset and mad at someone else when it is their own fault for not watching them when they put their little paw outside that door.
