I heard that she pointed the gun at a 4 year old child. If so, he done exactly what he should have done. The child will have nightmares forever. If she pointed that gun at a child, I hope Chris can forgive himself. The poor child is a victim. My heart and prayers always go out to the children.
So what, if she was a drunk? Read and absorb this speech from a Mississippi Judge during the days of prohibition.
Here's the famous "Whiskey Speech; then-Rep. N.S. "Soggy" Sweat Jr. delivered on April 4, 1952, at a banquet while the prohibition issue was before the Legislature.
"My friends,
"I had not intended to discuss this controversial subject at this particular time. However, I want you to know that I do not shun controversy. On the contrary, I will take a stand on any issue at any time, regardless of how fraught with controversy it might be. You have asked me how I feel about whiskey. All right, here is how I feel about whiskey.
"If when you say whiskey you mean the devil's brew, the poison scourge, the bloody monster, that defiles innocence, dethrones reason, destroys the home, creates misery and poverty, yea, literally takes the bread from the mouths of little children; if you mean the evil drink that topples the Christian man and woman from the pinnacle of righteous, gracious living into the bottomless pit of degradation, and despair, and shame and helplessness, and hopelessness, then certainly I am against it.
"But;
"If when you say whiskey you mean the oil of conversation, the philosophic wine, the ale that is consumed when good fellows get together, that puts a song in their hearts and laughter on their lips, and the warm glow of contentment in their eyes; if you mean Christmas cheer; if you mean the stimulating drink that puts the spring in the old gentleman's step on a frosty, crispy morning; if you mean the drink which enables a man to magnify his joy, and his happiness, and to forget, if only for a little while, life's great tragedies, and heartaches, and sorrows; if you mean that drink, the sale of which pours into our treasuries untold millions of dollars, which are used to provide tender care for our little crippled children, our blind, our deaf, our dumb, our pitiful aged and infirm; to build highways and hospitals and schools, then certainly I am for it.
"This is my stand. I will not retreat from it. I will not compromise."
But she was DEAD wrong to point a gun at a child. SOBER or DRUNK!
Kathy Bridges was an alcoholic who had some serious issues. This was an unfortunate accident. Bridges entered the home with the intent of killing everyone in the home. Chris had to protect his family, and he is very upset about the situation. Please keep both the Callahan and Bridges families in your prayers.
I think we could all say,i would have done this or that.But until you are faced with something,i dont think anyone knows what they would do.So to all the people who think they know what he should have or not have done.DONT JUDGE UNTIL YOU WALK MILE IN SOMEONE ELSES SHOES!!!!!!
That's right. This family needs alot of prayers right now. Chris had no choice in the matter. She left him no choice. It was her or him/his wife/and child. I pray that he will find some Peace from God in this situation.
This is why I tell my kids to never try drugs or take that first sip of alcohol. The tragedy that it can cause can never make it worth the fun of consuming it.
Faced with "whatever" I would do whatever it took to protect my son from ANYONE pointing a gun at him. Whoever, whatever, whenever, whyever does not matter. I hope Chris does not feel guilt because he done just what any real man should have done to protect his family. Peace be with you Chris. Hug, kiss, read to and pray with that little boy often.

Goodbye to the most precious woman I've ever known!! Chris...you not only killed your mother, but you made her look like a piece of worthless trash!! You know in your heart that she would've never hurt you. You used your own son to justify what you did. I hope you have a good life buddy. Kathy Bridges is the reason why you and Dawn's life will be brilliant now. You ain't fooling everybody....her friends know better and if other people will open their eyes, they will too !! Oh yeah..and tell everybody on here how "YOU" and your wife made her life a living hell...no wonder she was pushed to the limit! You might think we don't know, but she had LOTS of friends that she confided in!! Kathy..you will be missed !!
