With the end of the qualifying period last week, election season is upon us.

While civil debate on the issues of the day - and there are many - would be welcome, we won’t get much of it.

Nope, no problems there. I have what's called a birth certificate. I know you obamaites don't know what that is so I'll explain. It's a piece of paper that all doctor's in the US are required to fill out when there is a child born. They are required to fill out the information (by hand in 1963 not electronically as you have bought the lie from KH) and file the form with the state.

Carol Bass and Tammy Jarret are not Republicans they are members of the Hughes Party (CFA). What a shame that two inteligent People would fall under the spell of the Hundred Dollar Bill Man.

Power is What Hughes wants. He's claiming one victory with the last Splost Vote.

Are you that afraid of me running that you already want to "sling mud" at me? Your candidate must not be very strong if you are already on the attack.

Who is your candidate by the way? Roosevelt? He's not going to be elected again. You need to know that. The citizens of Pike are not going to suffer another term with any of the current BOC. I assure you they will all be defeated at their respective elections whether I run or not.

Agreed. These candidates would be great choices were it not for the David Hughes party. It is my belief they will not win given this affiliation. They do not realize how much of the public has wised up to the power game Hughes is playing under the guise of accountability.

The David Hughes Party? You are truly "pitiful". Is it similar to the Tea Party? Reining in spending is way overdue and the last SPLOST was a great example of something for everybody whether it was needed or not. The last SPLOST failed the smell test by voters.

Not going to take your word or anyone elses word on that..it could be a forgery. You and all the other politicians need to carry your birth cert with you door to door as you campaign. It should be validated as original by every SINGLE person in the county. I also want to see carbon-14 test results as well..and a blood sample to determine your lineage. Never can be too careful these days.

Don't care what you say. I support Roosevelt Willis. Rosey cleaned up the trash and drugs at Hilltop. I support Parrish Swift. Parrish gave us firehouses and lowered my ISO insurance rate. He saved me $1,291 per year.
I'm just so sad that I live in Tommy Powers district.

The way some of these people talk, you would think we did succeed. Grew up with David, went to school with David.... He's a pure bred Pike County Rawlins.

Only one thing about him, he is so clean he squeaks.

If you want to check his gene's to make sure, just don't get caught digging them up. There's a good many of them 6 ft under.

I'd rather he run for sheriff, and he is Pike County born & raised right. He has always been honest and straight forward. No need for charm school, pedicures & manicures or hair dye Etc...........

I don't believe he could be brought and paid for. At least he would check to see what's true.

Buy all the billboards you want, your buddy Roosevelt has had all the time he's going to have as a county commissioner. Pike County is tired of the spending and the special favors such as allowing dump trucks to ride on roads not rated for them. I don't think he will be elected again regardless of who runs against him.

No thank you, j dot m. I have several billboards that I procured earlier from a few judges who cannot legally use them anymore in this life. At least not under the same name. At least not in a state where people already know them. But then there is plastic surgery available. Come to think of it, I will save them and sell them back to the judges. I will assist David in my decorated wheel chair. David rocks...I roll.

I answered the question at the beginning but I will do so again.

I have not qualified yet.

I am still working on signatures. Independent candidates who are qualifying by petition have until I think the third week in June to qualify (I don't have the paperwork in front of me or I would give you an exact date)

Time is near to slash the run away budget. Our rural county used the state scrap tire program which was code enforcement paid by the state. Now we have a supreme unqualified code enforcement officer with a fat salary, nice air-conditioned office, fancy laptop take home computer, new county truck, county cell phone, nothing to do except answer the phone. Chunk the code enforcement position and assign it to inspections during these slow permit times. BOC do something right for a change.

Oh, you can look this one up yourself. But GW also was running around 200B - 230B deficit until the democrats got a super-majority in 2006 then the budget deficit shot to 450+B.

Reading skills are something that Parrish Swift never learned. Thank God Roosevelt Willis was elected the same time as Parrish. Mr. Willis took Parrish in as a junior commissioner and has tried to teach him skills.

I did reply to this earlier but it was too rude for the paper to post. That shows just how high my level of disrespect goes for all the commissioners who reneged on the original conclusion to forbid Teen Challenge from opening. These minutes show without doubt that the commissioners (minus Tommy) do not care if the teens leave the facility, what they steal, how much tax money the law officers waste, or how much fear surrounds the citizens. You are ghosts of commissioners. Enjoy your thirty pieces of silver. It was only rented to you...election time is coming.
