Judge Christopher Edwards has ordered Griffin circuit district attorney Scott Ballard and circuit public defender Joseph Saia to investigate allegations Judge Paschal English had an inappropriate relationship with a public defender who argued cases in his courtroom, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting.
Say it ain't so Pappy: Defrocked former judge Paschal English.

Will you ever know the facts?
Not likely.

I'd also like to add two things.
1- In criminal cases, everyone wants justice to be swift and meaningful - that is, until it involves one of their family. Then, the accused is usually 'innocent' and the judge has mistreated them terribly by sentencing them.
2- In civil cases, it would be a wonderful world if people could settle their own problems. But, guess what? If they aren't adult enough to do that, it's a judge's job to step in and do it for them. One side is always going to be unhappy when that happens.
Our system of law depends on the integrity of judges.
Judges sentence persons who have been found guilty by a jury or have plead guilty. The severity of the sentence might be influenced by a personal relationship.
A judge has the authority to reduce or even void jury awards in civil cases.
Do you find it reasonable that any judge involved in an illicit affair could be subjected to blackmail?
Your "explanation" of courtroom procedure is interesting. Have you ever even been in a courtroom?
Mr. English and Ms. Cornwell know their responsibility as judge and officers of court. The news account reports an investigation--no one has been accused. If there are sordid, unfounded rumors both should welcome an investigation to clear their names.
I've heard people say terrible things about both of them. I consider the source and think of the things I know they did and got away with.
In some case's I think it's about time.
There's one time I heard of something terrible happening. The people involved that I knew wouldn't lie. They went out of the way to protect a child. They lost the case because the accused had friends in high places and a local lawyer.
When they went to court the social worker and person from the hospital didn't show up in court. That was something I still wonder about.
It seems all the evidence in the world isn't any good here. This is a dangerous place for women and children.
Nancy Schaefer was a advocate for the protection of women and children in the state of Georgia. She was recently murdered by her husband.
I guess that's poetic justice "Good Ole Boy" style.

Money! Our rights and lives are for sale!
Believe what you will. I could bleed the truth to you but if your mind is already made up there's nothing to help you!
How does she know? She's from Georgia!
God bless women and children!!!
Let's suppose it was not a relationship. Would you feel differently if it was Superbowl tickets, a cruise, a new truck, vacation home, or something else of value?
When you are on the bench you cannot even appear to be biased.
Worst of all, he knew better.
I always wanted to say that.
Or the sex texts on another's cell phone.
(In reference to your letter to the editor)
Ron has a difference of opinion from you and you jump all over him. He must have hit a nerve. Maybe you were getting goodies from the magistrate office too. I'd be prissed off too if I wasn't getting any more free loans.
You and Donna Jo and your conspiracy theories, LOL!!!!!
You should have waited more than 2 minutes between post number 12.1 and 13...Wayne.
Makes one think doesn't it?
Out with the good ole boys and in with the new... No more Upson County good ole boys for the bench !
