Read the following and decide if it is good law or bad law: "For any lawful contact made by a law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States, a reasonable attempt shall be made, when practicable, to determine the immigration status of the person. The person's immigration status shall be verified with the federal government pursuant to 8 United States code section 1373(c)."

There is something wrong with that picture. They will soon have bank robbers running on signs in Georgia to alert drivers to Speed Up and get the money.
Luckily, the Constitution has a clause that has forbidden this type of infringement on personal rights.
See republicans...this is the sort of big government you SHOULD be protesting.
Arizona has the right to protect themselves from this invasion and I applaud their efforts.
I know you think King Hussein and the democrats are going to solve all of your problems but I assure you they are going to make life for you much worse than you've ever imagined.
The bill for all of this foolishness will come due and it won't be paid by those "evil rich" you liberals are so fond of but by the taxpaying citizen and by cuts in public assistance.
Never been in a traffic stop? License and registration, please?
Sorry, I'm for showing the papers.
Go Carol
Go Tamara
Its that simple. ideology does not equal rationality and it is irrational to think that its fine to infringe on a persons 4th amendment rights to prove a point. what a joke..
Showing your papers in a traffic stop is completely different to what is going on in Arizona. I see that an entire county has been "left behind" in the education process.
Only in Pike County.
I refuse to call another human being an alien. We are brothers in Christ..that bond is stronger than the imaginary national borders in which we place ourselves. I read the news, I know whats going on in Mexico. If I lived there with my children, I will do what is necessary to take care of them.
And if I have to give up 50 dollars from my paycheck (that I still receive by the grace of God Almighty) so that a child can receive food stamps in order to eat, then again, so be it.
May God have more mercy on you than what you show to others.
The Arizona law basically grants the same rights already possessed by the federal government as concerns illegal immigration to the state of Arizona for enforcement within their borders.
The law clearly states that for any "lawful contact". That means if they are arrested, stopped for traffic violation or any other lawful contact (generally means they were being questioned about something else already) if the officer determines there is reasonable suspicion that the person is an illegal, they can ask for documentation of citizenship. Documentation includes: Valid Driver's License, green card, birth certificate and a few others.
"For any lawful contact made by a law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States, a reasonable attempt shall be made, when practicable, to determine the immigration status of the person. The person's immigration status shall be verified with the federal government pursuant to 8 United States code section 1373(c)."
There is nothing in this law that isn't already federal law. The only difference is it now grants the right to enforce the law to the State of Arizona.
They have to determine if there is anything about that person, or the surroundings of that person, to cause suspicion.
Haven't you ever seen cops on the side of the road tearing a car apart looking for drugs? They do so because of one thing. Not proof. Suspicions.
The only thing left behind here is your good sense.
1 - Illegally crossing the border into the united states is a crime.
2 - Stealing someones property is a crime.
Would you be ok with people stealing your property?
Starving people will leave their country in search of food and work. I do not blame them and I do not judge them. Period. Re-write the bible if you wish.
Hypocrisy, self righteousness are some of the worst characteristics of Christians. Not very Christ-like. But I suppose casting stones is fun..and at least you are forgiven (unless your Hispanic..then you are condemned)
And if you ask me, you're casting some stones of your own. You are as guilty of using those words to suit your argument as the next person.
Would you be upset if someone stole your property?
If you come into a country illegally, take advantage of systems such as welfare and social security that you've never paid into, that's stealing. Going to the doctor and not paying: stealing.
If you want to make this an argument about Christianity and whether or not you are compassionate like Jesus, I can show you just as many examples where the wicked (thieves) were punished.
The bible is not necessarily flawed...it is misinterpreted. It is very contextual.
..and Mr. Rawlins, there is a difference between punishing the action and judging the person. The way it sounds on this post, you and your friends have no tolerance for imperfect people.
If I was getting assistance it would be from 31 years of paying into it not from running across the border and crying I can't find a job.
Theft by deception, theft by conversion, whatever you want to call it, taking something that doesn't belong to you or that you don't deserve is still theft.
Are you telling me that people in Mexico don't eat? I think that's a foolish notion. The bottom line is they want an easier life and are willing to break the law to get it. Sound a bit like drug dealers to you? Willing to break the law to get what they want regardless of who they hurt in the process.
Came into the country HOW? Legally? Of course they pay taxes. Illegally? Sure, they pay sales tax. That isn't decreasing my over-inflated tax bill. You know, the one that's paying for all those friends of yours to get medical care, food stamps, WIC, etc.. and so on and such.
Illegal immigrants are putting themselves above the law and ahead of legal immigrants and you are supporting it. You must be one of the illegals.
Why do illegal immigrants come her? Looking for work? Trying to make money?
Do you know why they are hired?
Cheap
Won't report criminal activity by their bosses for fear of being arrested
They are forced to live in what is basically labor camps paid minimally and fed the same.
If illegal immigrants were forced to come into this country as our law requires, they would be better paid and better off.
I'm sure you understand that a lot of "Illegal Immigration" is cover for drug trafficing. The drug runners bring in 30 or 40 illegals with them so that when they are spotted the police can't tell who had the drugs and who doesn't.
If you are for illegal immigration, you really need to research the problems it is causing in terms of just criminal activity in the state of Arizona and Texas. See if you want them living in your back yard.
One possible solution is to close the borders. Put current illegal aliens in line with everyone else to become a citizen and give them a temporary (2 year) visa. Once they meet requirements and if they get through the process legally they can become citizens.
If they don't meet the requirements they should be sent home. If they already have a criminal record (not related to their illegal immigrant status) they should be deported immediately.
Are you the same person arguing for illegal aliens above?
If so, how can you be so for an institution that keeps people living 20-25 to a one room shack with no bathrooms?
And as far as entitlements, if I've paid into social security as I have since I was 16. I am entitled to the money and it's not stealing.
I tell you what, I will settle with the government right now for what I've paid in plus reasonable interest and you will never have to pay me a dime.
Maybe, if you didn't spend so much time hating me for my success, you would have time to be successful yourself.
And just FYI, I do have enough to retire on when I'm old enough to retire and I will draw the social security that I have EARNED.
Just as I am sure you will.
I'm busy earning my own way and listening to all the lefties screaming I need to give it to them because they deserve it.
I spoke with your sister the other night at church. I hadn't made all the family connections till then. She was talking about our blogging.
Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California .
Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.
Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 per hour cash "under the table".
Ready? Now pay attention...
Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has
$31,231.00.
Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has
$31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now
has $24,031..00.
Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per
year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.
Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $9,631.00.
Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy. Jose Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00.
Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.
Jose Illegal says, "We don't need no stinkin' insurance!" and still has $31,200.00.
Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc.
Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month.
Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work..
Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.
Joe Legal's and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same school. Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's children get
a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home.
Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.
Do you get it, now?
If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens...
You are part of the problem!
BEDEMIR: Quiet, quiet. Quiet! There
Are ways of telling whether she is a witch.
CROWD: Are there? What are they?
BEDEMIR: Tell me, what do you do with
witches?
VILLAGER #2: Burn!
CROWD: Burn, burn them up!
BEDEMIR: And what do you burn apart from
witches?
VILLAGER #1: More witches!
VILLAGER #2: Wood!
BEDEMIR: So, why do witches burn?
VILLAGER #3: B--... 'cause they're made
of wood...?
BEDEMIR: Good!
CROWD: Oh yeah, yeah...
BEDEMIR: So, how do we tell whether she
is made of wood?
VILLAGER #1: Build a bridge out of her.
BEDEMIR: Aah, but can you not also build
bridges out of stone?
VILLAGER #2: Oh, yeah.
BEDEMIR: Does wood sink in water?
VILLAGER #1: No, no.
VILLAGER #2: It floats! It floats!
VILLAGER #1: Throw her into the pond!
CROWD: The pond!
BEDEMIR: What also floats in water?
VILLAGER #1: Bread!
VILLAGER #2: Apples!
VILLAGER #3: Very small rocks!
VILLAGER #1: Cider!
VILLAGER #2: Great gravy!
VILLAGER #1: Cherries!
VILLAGER #2: Mud!
VILLAGER #3: Churches -- churches!
VILLAGER #2: Lead -- lead!
ARTHUR: A duck.
CROWD: Oooh.
BEDEMIR: Exactly! So, logically...,
VILLAGER #1: If... she.. weighs the same
as a duck, she's made of wood.
BEDEMIR: And therefore--?
VILLAGER #1: A witch!
LOL
