Sheriff Jimmy Thomas has confirmed two juveniles are in custody after they fled the Teen Challenge facility here Friday night.

Teen Challenge: Sex Abuse and Sexual Predators
I've written quite a lot on the subject of coercive "behaviour modification" facilities in past--including legislative efforts to stop the industry in its tracks as well as exposes of their heavy usage as a dominionist "parallel economy" alternative to legit mental health and info on gross abuses in these facilities.

Over the next few days, we are going to focus on a specific chain of these facilities (which have been compared to Abu Ghraib)--Teen Challenge, a chain of Assemblies-run "faith based rehabs" that was the target of a "get out of jail free" deregulation of the "kiddie gulag" industry in Texas by none other than George W. Bush.

In our latest installment, we now touch on disturbing subjects--sexual abuse (including a known child molester as a Teen Challenge facility manager) both in Teen Challenge and its parent denomination.

I guess someone is going to have to be hurt or killed before they get these sick kids off the hill. Every time it gets a little worse just as it does with everything. But you the commissioners thought this county could not survive without teen challenge in it. Well the way i see it you (the commissioners) should be held responsible when the blood starts to flow and it will just give it time. All it takes is one stupid idiot. We have (the people of the vally) been lucky so far but its coming.

To date, Fabiano is still head of Teen Challenge New England despite not only state laws that prohibit sex offenders and persons convicted of crimes against children from working in children's homes but despite media publicity as well. (In fact, technically Fabiano should not legally be able to work at Teen Challenge at all, much less have her residence listed as Teen Challenge in Maine's sex offender registry; Maine has some pretty strict laws regarding contact with minors by registered sex offenders.)

Teen challenge was boosted by former President Bush Sr and has an extensive history of political connections and laws that allow the challenge place to run almost unsupervised. You all should also read about the political antics of those in charge with regards to The Franklin child prostitution ring allegations. These were a series of allegations and legal actions surrounding an alleged child sex ring serving high-level U.S. politicians during Bush Sr. reign. Of course, I forget that all these local guys in charge are just about getting their back scratched by those with perceived power....but as we are seeing lately, they fall as well.

hello to all concerned with all this teen challenge,.. this is the fourth probably the fifth escape in a matter of a few months..i live adjoining them ,no more than 1000 to1200 feet from them.onthe escape by two[2] of them friday night april 23,2010. i was working in my small private shop,approx. 200feet behind my home ,i continued working there till eleven forty five last nite,..no one came by to alert me of the escape ,,yea thats correct not even any of our law enforcement,no one from teen chalenge.. what is it going to to curtail this probable.. a death or serious injury to one or more of us.i for one will start carring protection with me at all times .now for me , a seventy five year old...isnt that a good way to live your old age,every time you step out of your home,having to try and keep on constant alert,to save your self,stay alive.. now i ask of our sheriff ,please notify as soon as possible,because this a real threatto all of ,espcially in this area,,,and to governor sonny perdue,throw the county commisnors that let this take place on their watch,please help us all......

The Valley as Terri P calls it is a good place for them boys, If something bad happens no big loss in that area if you ask me. Those commisioners were voted in office just like Obama and Bush so deal with it. I'm unbiased on the teen challenge thing as of yet but from what I see they are not hardened criminals located there. Met some of them in a local church and they were better behaved than the church kids I saw running around. Maybe they just wanted to go home, I'm sure any of us would as they are all from out of town and not local boys.

Well Sheila I would have to side with Teen Challenge as I do believe in 2nd and 3rd and so on chances just as God has given us all our on chances right ? I don't go to church for nothing. We as Christians are not put here to condemn each other but to offer each other love and peace and hope and to do service for those around us. How could I be against any church offering to help these boys? You’re either for me or against me God's word says. What side of the fence are you on? And calling my brothers and sisters in Christ FAG's via the wording is not appropriate either. Did I do good David?

they cannot make it for meeting, their shoes are soiled from crap walking and smells too bad for public. since it is fish season there was a sortage of knee waders and stuff is too deep for just hightops. the boc's are under covers and taking no calls as they were right before voting this business in.

you are right but they lied and pulled out all their tricks. a deputy told me there was 1 elder man with all those boys last night. they promised more. makes me wonder why they cannot keep them there. i worry about citizens but do not want boys hurt either. they should be made to put fence with barb wire at top and to call neighbors immedately. a siren would help. i believe any parent that sends their child to teen business on hill is puttng child in danger.

Teen challenge was opposed by the people who own property in the area and never should have been allowed to open.

Teen challenge is one of the most corrupt organizations that I've ever encountered. All you have to do is search even briefly and you will find all sorts of complaints against this so called non-profit organization. Including several that are being operated by questionable individuals.

I did post the original post standing for Teen Challenge being here. Anyone who knows where I stand with God and Church would know I could never and would never stand against anything of God. Whoever you are posting in my name Man up or shut up. Are they instances where Teen Challenge groups have failed ? The answer is yes, But that is mans failure not God's. But out of all the failures the success stories far far far outweigh the failures. Has anyone looked at the Government run groups that try to help our youth ? Exactly you haven't or you would realize that Teen Challenge far exceeds any other organized grop to date with its success rate. Have you invited Teen Challenge to your church ? Then you don't know what this particular group is about or what these young adults are about then do you. If I were appointed commissioner I'd vote to keep Teen Challenge but build a fence and siren.

Your reply of ignorance was exactly what I'm saying. After hearing all the fear and doom about teen challenge I almost left the church I was visiting when I saw they were going to be there. Thank God I stayed, After hearing all the hoopla in this community about hardened criminals living in our backyards waiting to kill us I expected the worse of the worse from them in church or not. To my awe I instead found well groomed and behaved boys who were very polite and loved to hug and talk with everyone there. Some of them worshipped God freely in a way that had us in awe. I look forward to seeing them in any other church if I hear they will be there. I'm more scared of the valley than those on the hill. When did God die and appoint us judges over mankind ? Like David said if your not for God your against him. Well I'll stand with God thank you very much. By the way since some think they don't have enough help I heard they accept volunteers. Maybe you and myself should look into that as well. Till you have met with them all face to face like I have and then form your opinions and not listen to the lies and slander then shut up. There are worse teens and kids living around you that parents don't have the guts to try to get them help.

I think the center is GREAT! You need to research all the good to the little mishaps that have come out.

I am so glad you responded on this blog. The commissioners have been in a meeting since last night and they have been trying to reach you. They need to know your address in order to deliver your load of well behaved dope addicts.
The commissioners ask that you call them. They want you to use the special number they gave you because they are in hiding so they are not bothered by taxpaying citizens asking logical questions. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, if you want your cut from the new brown bag they got from FAG, you need to meet them at the same place.

Now Rusty I guess the reason the valley is a good place for the sick kids is because like you and the rest of the people who want it here do not live here. You need it next door to all your elderly family and friends. The best place for it is on Hwy 92 Griffin. but then that would shut down the school. Because no one wants them next to their kids. Anywhere in this world but your backyard right I see.

I am flattered that you feel like my name is so important that you want to use it.

I do agree with you on the fact that these kids need and deserve help. But they should be in a facility that can be secured and in an area that is away from people.

For instance, the First Assembly of God campus has over 100 acres I've been told. Now ask yourself why an organization in Griffin with 100+ acres would move it's drug rehab facility nearly to upson county on 30 acres? They obviously wanted this facility as far away from their neighborhood as possible.

This facility was unwanted by the people who live in the area. I think if the BOC doesn't have the wherewithal to close it they should at a minimum make them fence it similar to the way the prison facility is fenced to protect the local residents from the ones who are NOT seeking help (or they wouldn't be running away).

Please use your own name in the future so that your valid and well written opinions can be associated with the correct person.

It's Rusty D. not P. First of all I never said I wanted it here, If you read my post it says I'm unbiased about teen challenge, Is it a good place to house them ? Yes it was given to them so I'm fine with that. It could have easily been in any of our backyards but I choose to believe there is a God above in control of all yes ALL things, Do you or anyone else that is a real God fearing Christian think teen challenge being on that hill suprised God in any way shape or form ?Well maybe you don't even believe in God I don't know, And what about the childrens home near back yard, You think I haven't had them come to my house. They have worse kids there than I saw at teen challenge. I've got an idea lets do what God intended us to do, Pray for teen challenge and for ourselves daily and guess what, It will protect us and them. Imagine that someone with a little faith actually praying and believing and it working. But were to ignorant to do that aren't we. And yes worse things go on it our schools every day than you will get from teen challenge and everyone knows it. Still yet to hear from anyone that has actually met these men and boys in person at teen challenge and spoke with them in their church or anywhere that has bad things to say about them. Only those who choose to spread lies that have never even met them to see what it is all about. I did and I speak what I saw and heard. I'm not relying on hearsay and neither should anyone else.

from one of teen chall. brochures they claimed to have a 86% success rate. a joke. this really is 86% of ones to finish program which are very few. some drop out, some run away. the one i talked to that had been to one in macon said it was nothing short of slave camp. it is a multi-million dollar business riding assembly of gods churches coat tail making south of county citizens lives a living hell. wish you could have been to all meetings, then you would know.what a boo boo the couty made.

research teen chall. exsposed where you can get eduacated on real teen chall. instead of listening to rubbish put out by the business. why should anyone volunter when they get nearly 3,000 per head, per month. do the math, 40 the first year was goal for them. add the tax free earnings for 1 year. pike gets 0. they said they would not cost co. money. deputy cars and deputys regularly chasing teens over mt. and down roads. could be doing better things. now the angels are stealing, what next?

Exactly where does the valley start and end, If you read my post you would know the Childrens home is where I'm located near, So am I jealous of the valley people ? Not hardly dear, I did make most of the meetings to get real facts and to get educated on the whole teen challenge deal and not rely on some website full of deception that someone who obvioulsy has a problem with God and his work put on the website to deter and upset people. I also have met most of the boys that are currently there now as I said and met a lot of the earlier ones who have already made it thru the program and are doing quite well for themselves. So surf away you can pull anything up on google that will satisfy you ignorance to get the answer you want. But real hands on first hand knowledge like I have put into finding out is the only true way you or anyone else will find out. Yeah I know you want because ignorance is rapid in the valley. And it would mean you'd have to accept that your wrong. At almost 60 yrs old I hope to have a lot of living left and I can assure you it won't be living in fear of the teen challenge program here in the valley. And as a matter of fact I do leave my keys in the vehicle most of the time. Its all Gods anyway if they take it. And you volunteer as a act of kindness and service to others , You know the type of things the Bible commands us to do.

Rusty, I've not called you stupid or ignorant but it is apparent that you are... I've addressed the two comments above that were not mine and I've never hidden my opinion of teen challenge as an organization.

The facts are the facts whether you believe them or not. The first assembly of God went to great lengths to put this facility as far away from their own as they could and for good reason. They didn't want to have to deal with the runaways and the consequences of one of their own getting hurt or killed.

If you are going to call someone names and defame their character at least have the courage to use your full name so that we can all know who you are and where your from.

I'm guessing you are one of the AG folks commenting in Pike County about something that is none of your business other than the mess that you and your so called church has dumped on the citizens of Pike County.

If AG was a Godly organization, they would have kept their problems in their own back yard instead of sending them here.

That's Funny:) Were you people on the north side of the mountain informed of the escape? I live on the south side, back in the woods and my daughter who lives out near the road called me abt 10 and told me the police were coming up my driveway. I looked out and saw them stop at the bottom of the hill and flash the flash lights around. I told my daughter they were probably looking for escapees. They never came to our house to let us know anything though. I only found out when I read it in the paper.

I was being sarcastic D. The Sheriff's department never notifies anyone when one of those addicts escape. Keep your guns close by and defend yourself if necessary, that's all I know to do. I am going to start offering them rides to the airport. If their parents can afford to pay Teen Challenge the kind of money they pay, they will pay for my gas to get them out of the valley. Maybe I can move them out quicker than the FAGs can move them in.

NO CHILD in a center or a home is perfect. ATLEAST these parents are trying to get better and do for their children. This is not a jail, This is not a free place. Everyone should be given a second chance.

Are you telling us if your kid come up with problems you wouldnt do whatever it took to help them get back on track. Better yet a christian enviroment.

Good of teen challenge is the kids that do get to know Christ while they are there and pay forward and end up working for the center.Good of teen challenge is the heart of many there and the band singing praise they have put together. Good is the school and education the boys are getting when they were not listening in regular school.

They are not walking around the school with your kid looking like a fool with their pants on the ground .. selling you kid pot, carrying a gun on premis, starting fights causing lock downs. I know of atleast 5 that have run away from home because they know it all, should have no rules and are with your kids daily. Thats right kids can leave home because they dont want to follow rules but still have the right to go to school.

I don't think there any convicted felons attending school.

These kids at TC have been arrested and faced conviction and prison but were allowed to attend the TC facility. The ones that run away are trying to get out of any punishment for their actions.

These "children" are not going to teen challenge on a volunteer basis, they are forced there by the courts.

Or what happened when a sheriff's deputy accidentally gets shot while searching through private property in the dead of night and some property owner doesn't know what's happening. Georgia has a law that makes it legal for Georgians to use deadly force any time, and now just about any place if they feel their life or property is in danger. Citizens here don't even get a freakin' courtesy call for goodness sake. It seems as if the law enforcement are giving a nod and wink to the organization with regards to keeping this stuff on the down low. And has anyone for a second stopped to think about what these boys could be running away from?

Our representatives support this organization. It is sad when influence rules over common sense and concern.

ALWAYS be wary of anyone interested in a position of power and spending unsupervised time with kids. And troubled kids are a particularity good target because they are seen as bad/untrustworthy already. ESPECIALLY if the organization has a history (or a present, for that matter) of allowing known sexual offenders to come in contact with minors.

I am glad to see that someone will speak out on issues that have such a negative impact on Pike County. The paper also points out that Greg Keylon, executive director of Teen Challenge, did not return calls about the escape. WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM, GREG? You will be tracked down when the law suits start coming your way. You people are fine and dandy while the sun is shining...a little rain falls and you crawl back under your tax free rock. How many kickbacks are trading hands? It will all come out one day. I force myself to live for that moment. I don't know if anyone is still reading here, but I wanted to put in my 2 cents. Have you thought about that the families of these boys might be reading this & they are real people? The grandmother of one of the boys who ran away read this & was mortified! Guns!? What if one of these boys was your son, grandson, nephew? These boys come from families that love them, are praying for them & sacrifing everything to get help for their sons who are on the wrong path. If you are so scared why don't you go meet the boys. See them at church like someone said. Volunteer your time at their school. Have a boy that's about to graduate from the program come & eat lunch with you. There are no pediophiles working at this teen challenge. Some of your comments make you look like ignorant fools! I would much rather have a teen challenge in my town than a prison with guards, fences, & sirens. Just think what a difference this is going to make in the lives of these boys. They could be future pastors, teachers, doctors, or just great citizens instead of going down the path headed to jail. If you're so scared of these BOYS get a watch dog or home alarm or just pray for them.
