The many nations helping Haiti recover from the devastating earthquake that struck there have set up their own military compounds and fly their flags at the entrances.
France's tricolor, Britain's Union Jack and even Croatia's coat of arms flap in the breeze.

And you need to quit listening to George Sorros media mogul.
Name one (1) thing he's done that's good.
The right we have is part of being an American. And, whether we speak or not, he is still the worst president in American History. His first year has been disastrous. His approval rating is the worst. He has created division and animosity. It might surprise you to know that I am glad he is president - it really helped shine a light on the democratic agenda and helped solidify what it means to be a republican. Now that the republicans have been shaken, I hope they solidify a position of conserving our Christian Heritage that made (and make) this country so great.
On the local Government:
I have not bashed the BOC or the BOE. I respect an honor Dr. Turpin, we was/is an exceptional leader. I also voted for Jimmy Thomas and he does a fine job as well. When a local leader has an opinion to which I disagree, I may or may not decide to use my right to verbalize that disagreement. That is why I love being American, it's my choice.
On flying the flag:
It is an honor to be able to fly the flag. We should not have the desire to fly the flag out of our own arrogance; more out of respect for which it stands. After reading the article, I can relate to not flying Old Glory. However, you can be sure if I were there, I'd have on a red, white and blue shirt and everyone would know where I was from. The commander in chief might be able to dictate what the military does, but Obama has no bearing on what I do.
On Rush Limbaugh:
He's a loud mouth radio host, he does what he does for money and entertainment - he is no leader. I don't even think I've heard him speak in the past 12 months. He is not a persuasive presence, simply an entertainment tool. I'll bet you more people have been moved to conservative idealism through Obama's ridiculous legislation in the past 12 months than all radio talk shows combined. Obama has had a polarizing affect on society.
On your previous comment (#2) and Obama being the most powerful man:
Obama is not powerful at all. He represents the most powerful nation, but he alone has very little 'power'. The House and Senate have all control over what is and is not law. Obama is the weakest president we have ever had - he has no merit on the world stage. He's more of a joke as an individual. I'm not sure how old you are, but think back to Jimmy Carter - do you think he had any power? He couldn't even get our folks back from Iran. Do you think GW would have had that problem? I think we have a lame duck president after his first term; which is unheard of in American History.
There's your pancake for the day, enjoy it, because when we are truly a socialist nation it may be the only thing you get to eat...
Over years, with help from republicans and democrats alike, we has a nation have lost site of personal responsibility and the importance of liberty. Without personal responsibility there can be no liberty, and without liberty there will be no personal responsibility.
obama has played 36 games of golf in 1.5 years. "W" played 24 in 8 years. If my math is correct, at this rate obama will have played 192 games in 8 years. So we paid "W" $4416 to play golf for 8 years and we will pay obama $35,328 if he is re-elected.That is what he is doing for us.
For those of you who think our country is a joke, leave..just leave. Obama was awarded the Nobel Prize. If that does not speak to what the world thinks of us now then you are all slow and I will need to rethink my theories on evolution. Just a tip..turn off faux news.
For the last 8 years, we were the bully on the playground. I am beyond glad that it is no longer the case.
Ego... and hateful egos at that.
Great thing about America is that not everyone is the same and has the same opinions. But it has become a very intolerant nation in the last year. Old, white people are very sore losers.
But I thank Obama for making public dissent "patriotic" again. God forbid anyone spoke negatively about chicken-little when he was dictator for the last 8 years. Those were very dark times and you were a brave soul to travel overseas.
1. I like living in my country just fine And so far, I have yet heard anyone, other than my fellow U.S. citizens, laughing or ridiculing my country. Maybe in your world travels you overheard someone.
2. What has he (I'm assuming you mean President Obama) done for me? Well, first, he was elected president by the majority of voting citizens. secondly, he rid the WhiteHouse of a cowardly charlaton who surrounded himself with wastrels and scoundrels. And yes, my life and the lives of my loved ones is better, but not due to our government, but to hard work and patience. As far as standing in a soup line, I bet you have no idea what a soup line is. Oh, and go crawl back in your cave and go to sleep.
The Patriot Act allowed the govt. (any agency) to conduct wiretaps on ANY person in this country without warrant and for no reason. If your neighbor calls the law and tells them he saw you wrapping your head in a towel and he thinks you're a terrorist, they got you.
Tha Patriot Act allows the govt to arrest anyone for any reason wiithout cause.
The Patriot Act allows the govt to confiscate any or all of your property without cause for no reason.
Sinsce you spend a lot of time on-line you might want to look up this act and read it thoroughly.... then ask your question.
1 - The Patriot Act allowed the federal government to tap phones of people making international calls without first getting the approval of a judge, termed roving wiretaps. Roving wiretaps are wiretap orders that do not need to specify all common carriers and third parties in a surveillance court order. These are seen as important by the Department of Justice because they believe that terrorists can exploit wiretap orders by rapidly changing locations and communication devices such as cell phones.
2 - There are no arrest clauses in the Patriot Act whatsoever.
3 - No confiscation of property whatsoever.
The Patiot Act dealt mostly with international communications it's biggest controversial element was that for the first time it allowed international intelligence organizations to gather intelligence directly from US citizens.
"""""The FBI is guilty of "serious misuse" of the power to secretly obtain private information under the Patriot Act, a government audit said Friday.
The Justice Department's inspector general looked at the FBI's use of national security letters, in which agents demand personal and business information about individuals -- such as financial, phone, and Internet records -- without court orders.
The audit found the letters were issued without proper authority, cited incorrect statutes or obtained information they weren't supposed to.
As many as 22 percent of national security letters were not recorded, the audit said.
"We concluded that many of the problems we identified constituted serious misuse of the FBI's national security letter authorities," Inspector General Glenn A. Fine said in the report."""""
Con: Critics warn that unrestricted sharing could lead to the development of massive databases about citizens who are not the targets of criminal investigations.
Sec. 206: Allows one wiretap authorization to cover multiple devices, eliminating the need for separate court authorizations for a suspect's cell phone, PC and Blackberry, for example.
Con: Critics say the language of the act could lead to privacy violations of anyone who comes into casual contact with a suspect.
Sec. 215: Allows easier access to business records in foreign intelligence investigations.
Con: Critics attack the breadth of the provision, saying the law could be used to demand the reading records of library or bookstore patrons.
Sec. 218: Lowers the bar for launching foreign intelligence wiretaps and searches.
Con: Because foreign intelligence probes are conducted in secret, with little oversight, critics say abuses could be difficult to uncover.
Sec. 213: Allows "Sneak and peek" search warrants, which let authorities search a home or business without immediately notifying the target of a probe.
Con: Critics say the provision allows the use of "sneak and peek" warrants for even minor crimes, not just terror and espionage cases.
Sec. 805: Expands the existing ban on giving "material support" to terrorists to include "expert advice or assistance."
Con: Critics say the provision could lead to guilt by association.

So how often have your overseas conversations been recorded?
Has it been abused? I'm sure it has, just as every law on the books has been abused. For instance, the law that states the president of the US must provide proof of citizenship.
