Student ditches prom for love of off roading

The first event of the Just Add Dirt Mud Racing Series was held  Saturday, April 10, at the Rocky Creek ATV Trail in Culloden. Pike County High School senior Chase Edwards skipped the prom to take part in the mud bog competition on his Polaris 800.

well at least he was a lot closer to home than our prom was. a lot safer too. agian why is our prom in atl?

The prom is always out of town because Pike is too cheap to have someplace big enough for us to have it here at home.

We had our prom in the gym. I'm not sure why students today can't do the same.

There are places here to have it. It has nothing to do with the expense or having a space big enough to have it.

David, they don't have it in the gym anymore because we're not in the 60's.

What on earth does the year have to do with having the prom at home? Pike county has nothing to do with atlanta, and instead of being here with their friends and family, they have to go to that infested, congested big city to be together.
Seems it would do the kids a lot of good to work together on their gym to make it nice for the prom, but alas, over the years, the controlling school administration has taken away all sense of pride and ownership the kids may have in their school, how dare them try to hang streamers, wear dance shoes on the gym floor, and dress the place up!
