Pike County's chief appraiser Jeannie Ayer Haddock, 37, is expected to start work as early as Thursday as Lamar County's chief appraiser. She will earn an annual salary of $52,000. Her resignation in Pike County was effective this morning.

Too many of us called her Lets Make a Deal Jeannie. If you talked about filing an appeal, she would take you in a back room and talk with you. She gave herself a lot of authority.

You have 3-4 year old baseball on up to high school level, peewee football, soccer, band, chorus.
What else would you want? The only thing we don't have anymore that I would like to see re-opened is a public pool.
Most of the restaurants are open till 9:30 or 10. We don't have any late night bars but you can keep those in Griffin.
There is a park and walking track in concord and williamson.
Also, you can go out to the soccer fields at any time and play soccer on the fields that are not in use. My family and I do this quite often.
There is access to the river on hwy 18 at the county line going west for fishing and floating on the river.
I think the problem (not your problem but everyone's) is that we want "entertainment" when we and/or our kids should learn how to entertain themselves in a healthy manner.
When I was a kid growing up in Pike County we played hide and seek all over downtown Zebulon. Rode bikes. Even rode motorcycles without destroying other peoples property and getting the police called.
Children today (mine included) have this sensory overload that makes them think they need entertainment 24/7 when really all they need is a baseball and a stick.
Don't you just love 'em.
