The Pike County Board of Commissioners met Monday, Feb. 1 to discuss fire fee structure and policy during a workshop. They talked about areas of the ordinance where the wording is unclear and discussed going to a flat fee structure for the next 12-year budget to avoid issues that have arisen with the assessed value fee structure.

We want answers and the truth, YES!!!!! we can handle the truth. Can you? Remember you have been caught in lies already fess up to us taxpayers.
Also the words PAID and VOLUNTEER should not be used in the same sentence, they contradict each other!!!

You don't think you should pay for fire service like everyone else or you don't think anyone should have to pay at all? Tell us, friend, how to get the fire department's budget to where it needs to be to function.
You know, Pike County's fire department isn't a top-notch "service" until you need it. Then you'll change your mind. Why not use your energy to help Rob Morton, esq. make sure everything's done to suit you and your ilk? That will save your tax dollars from making it to the courtroom.

A fire fee is being imposed at a set rate to potentially each person who owns some type of structure on a piece of property in Pike County correct?
Then they are trying to get this where if you dont have a structure on a piece of property that you can choose to pay the fire fee or deny paying it but if a fire whatever it might be a wreck or woods fire etc you will then be charged a set fee which will in the long run actually be higher then if you would have paid the fire fee correct?
Also there is debate as to the size of the property also correct?
Also say for example someone had started a subdivision before the economy went bad and they have a bunch of empty lots do they get charged a fire fee for each unoccupied or undeveloped or they have no structure on the lot correct?
What exactly do the fire fees go for?
Also wouldnt this fire fee be a less then if they decided to add this to your property tax bill as a percentage fire fee that would be figured into your tax bill?
So is the fire fee a bargain with the last question in reality?
Should any property be excluded? I mean County or whatever it is I mean if there is a fire they have to respond to it dont they?
I am pro fire departments and no I am not a volunteer I am just glad we have one but would like to know the answers to some of these questions. Seems like some of the stuff is not always explained in understandable terms and makes it seem like something is trying to be hid at times even though it might not be.
Sitting back and observing the current Fire Chief in Pike County. I have not lived in Pike County all that long but I love it here and to me and this is just my view it is a Volunteer Fire Department so we should not expect the World of them. To me a Volunteer Fire Fighter is someone who either is a fulltime or retired fire fighter from some where else or someone who always wanted to be a firefighter but overall volunteers are individuals who love helping others and to me do volunteering as a HOBBY and it something they love to do. I do wish the community would get more behind and support the Fire Department but hey to each their own.
But back to the fire chief. I for one know he has to do a ton of stuff, lots of paperwork, lots and I mean lots of stuff we just dont realize what he is doing. I noticed Pike has lots of new fire stations and lots of new engines and many of this came with a lot of it paid for thru Grants that the Fire Chief applied for. I think he should be paid something and I also think the Volunteers should be paid something and I dont know what or what the answer to that is.
But another thought is I think so many of us love Pike County due to the Country atmosphere and to make the Fire Department more like some of you want it to be like adding More Paid on duty firefighters that means either raising taxes to fund this which will really make some of you mad or bring in more development thereby taking up some of this country atmosphere you and I love so much.
So what is the bottom line now?
Felony arrest for bad check writing.
Commissioner in Pike living in Alabama.
I do not understand Randy Snyders comments in support of Lt. Danny Henderson. He says what happen in Clayton Fire Department and Lt. Danny being on non-paid administrative leave has no bearings on his status as Chief here but he goes to church. Is that like you get a DUI in Clayton Co and work for Pike Co so it does not matter here? Is it like you are arrested in Clayton Co for felony bad check writing but since you work in Pike Co it has no bearing here? Does character or personal patterns matter? Is it like Bill Avery lived in Alabama but was our commissioner here, does that have any bearings? Now that is strange in District 2. If Bill Avery was still commissioner Marro would never have talked him into paying a volunteer $18,000 + health benefits. You go Parrish and Marro.
You know soon Marro will be unemployed and then Roosevelt Willis and Parrish Swift will be UNCOMMISSIONERS. Thing's will be looking up in PikeCo.
As for all the butt kissing that is going on, all I can say is I hope they can still see the light before they all fall.
No. No. No He don't get it. ISO from a 2 to a 0. No money. No money yet. Yes paid fire chief Danny. What about 3 firefighters? Three only are paid. One firehouse. Not all. Not all firehouse. Not all firefighters.
