By Dr. Spencer Price

They’re called the Darwin Awards – annual recognition bestowed upon those among us who perform acts of supreme stupidity and who, in so doing, often pay the ultimate price. An example of a classic Darwin Award winner is the crook who, during a robbery, aimed a gun at an innocent person and pulled the trigger. When the gun failed to discharge, the would-be robber turned the gun around, looked down the barrel, and pulled the trigger again. Unfortunately for him, this time the gun fired, sending the criminal to an early grave and earning him a Darwin Award.
Continue reading "Tales from the ER"

The Industrial Development Authority of Pike County presented a proposal regarding a Natural Gas Line Project to the Pike County Board of Commissioners this morning at a special called meeting at 9 a.m. The cost of the gas line's extension into Pike County is now at $475,124.

Commissioners voted to postpone a decision on the pipeline until further cost sharing contributions can be confirmed or denied from Yancey Brothers. Tommy Powers and Don Collins opposed the postponement and chairman Doug Mangham broke the tie to end the meeting.
Liz Cheney doesn't hold a seat in the United States Senate. She doesn't have the power to call committee hearings to intimidate those who dare disagree with her. And she isn't practicing her demagoguery in an era of widespread fear of an existential threat. Nevertheless, she has slipped easily into the role of Joseph McCarthy.
