Hundreds lined the highway for the Independence Day Pride of Pike parade with the theme "We Shall Never Forget." As the parade passed the courthouse, spectators applauded loudly as volunteers carried plaques commemorating the 173 veterans from Georgia who have lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A woman was hit on the south side of the courthouse square by an extended cab F-250 towing a trailer around 3:40 p.m. Monday. Zebulon police and sheriff's deputies responded to the incident to control traffic while she was tended to by emergency responders.
