Pirates honored for gridiron achievements

The 2009 Pike County Pirates football team was honored last Thursday night at Christ Chapel Community Church. The first award presented was for the Highest GPA and Junior Bowen Flowers took the award with a 4.0 average.
Most Valuable Player for offense was awarded to Jasvion Wilson. Wilson was involved in many game-winning touchdown receptions. The Defensive MVP award went to Clint Moser. Moser led the defense in many categories throughout the season. [Full story »]

The Pike County Lady Fury were finalists at the Sugar and Spice Tournament in Douglasville and Carrollton. Due to the excessive amount of rain that fell Sunday, Nov. 29, the team had a shootout and fell short 2-1 to place second in the tournament. [Full story »]

Cheerleaders led a chanting crowd Saturday at Trojan Field as the recreation title championships were played on the newly built astroturf field. Pike placed second in the 7-8 division and took the title in the 9-10 division.

In the last three years the middle school Lady Pirates softball team is 45-0, a feat no other Pike County sports team has even come close to. They won this year’s Central Georgia Championship by going 12-0 in regular season and then ran the table on Byron 17-0, Crawford County 9-6 and Gray Station in the championship game 3-2.
