As I got off the plane in Denver with my friends Larry and Patsy Swinney, I knew we were in for an extraordinary week at the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Col. Larry and Patsy has a son who plays baseball for Gordon College. I was there to support my son as a coach for Gordon and take photos for the team. We made the four-hour journey from Denver to Grand Junction and admired the beautiful Rocky Mountains that were capped with snow. [Full story »]

The unwillingness of authorities to put a stop to their organized disruptions of other people’s lives, their trespassing, their vandalism, and their violence is a de facto suspension, if not repeal, of the Fourteenth Amendment’s requirement that the government provide “equal protection of the laws” to all its citizens. Back in the 1960s I found a way to earn some money on my own. Walking with my big Radio-Flyer wagon I’d pick up soft drink bottles along roads of my small hometown of Brooks in south Fayette County.

The ditches and fence lines would become home to unwanted soft drink bottles. Just behind the road signs was another good place to find bottles as well. The bottle wielding Nazis of that era would use the signs as a target for their pleasure. I liked it when they missed; it was money for me. [Full story »]

Pike countians George and Ellen Norris, Rachel Norris McClelland, Paul and Ruthie Norris Faulds and W.H. “Bill” and Judy Norris and Willaminta Norris Hight of Spartanburg, S. C., traveled to Beaumont, Texas, last week to attend memorial services for their sister, Virginia Lee Norris Anderson, who died Tuesday, April 3.

Virginia was born Nov. 20, 1926. She was the oldest of six children born to Ruth Hall Norris and William Holloway Norris and grew up on the family farm near Zebulon. [Full story »]
