The first Miss Pike County High School Sweetheart pageant is set for Saturday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at Christ Chapel Community Church. The event is sponsored by the high school Soccer Booster Club to raise funds for junior varsity and varsity girls and boys teams.

A downtown Zebulon business has been buying, cracking and selling pecans for around 50 years and continues the tradition this year, even though an integral part of the operation is missing. Jimmy Caraway bought Mid-Ga Pecan in 2006 and planned to run the business until he could afford to retire. He passed away recently and his fiance and sister now run the business the same way he would have required. [Full story »]
