The Georgia Department of Transportation has deemed the bridge over Birch Creek on Caldwell Bridge Road in need of repair and it will be closed until further notice. The bridge must undergo structural repairs before it is re-opened. [Full story »]

Volunteer firefighter and first responder Robert Gresham – and others – rose to the defense of fire chief Danny Henderson, saying what happened in Clayton County does not have any bearing on his performance in Pike County.

Citizens met Saturday in the Pike County High School cafeteria to make final plans for a protest to be held on the courthouse square just before Tuesday's board of commissioners meeting. Members of the Pike County Touchdown Club are trying to raise $1,000 before March to sod a field at the middle school. The group has already raised $5,000 for the project to provide a practice field for middle school football players and a usable field for physical education classes and other athletic teams.
