The community has stepped up to show its Pride in Pike. Funding for the annual Independence Day Celebration is nearly secured. Commissioners were unable to fund the fireworks show as in years past and citizens made donations and efforts to raise the $11,400 needed for the event. [Full story »]

The Molena Food Mart gas station was robbed Monday night around 9:20 p.m. by a suspect wearing a mask and carrying a handgun. Shots were fired during the armed robbery, but not by the suspect. [Full story »]

A woman was hit on the south side of the courthouse square by an extended cab F-250 towing a trailer around 3:40 p.m. Monday. Zebulon police and sheriff's deputies responded to the incident to control traffic while she was tended to by emergency responders. [Full story »]

A local girl walked outside to find 11 of her pets dead Wednesday morning and the two dogs who killed them still in the animals' pen. Nine chickens, a pregnant nanny goat and a baby goat were killed by the two dogs. The owner said this is just another example of how the county needs animal control. [Full story »]

Paramedics provide care for patients while transporting them to the hospital, and sometimes that means fighting to keep them alive along the way. Paramedic Robert Ridgeway and EMT Gene Harvey of Zebulon's Mid Georgia Ambulance station were recently presented with a Save Award for their efforts to keep a woman's heart pumping after it stopped twice in the ambulance.

Local attorney Marcia Calloway-Ingram was appointed as Pike County's Chief Magistrate Judge by Superior Court Judges Christopher Edwards and Tommy Hankinson today. She was selected following interviews with 16 other applicants. She will be sworn in Friday, May 28 at noon in the courthouse courtroom and she will begin work June 1.
