After a year of heated debate, a health care bill commonly called Obamacare has been signed into law. The sweeping health care reform and reconciliation bills were passed by the Senate, House of Representatives and signed by the President last week.
The bills require every American to have insurance or face a penalty, extends Medicaid coverage to around 32 million people, keeps companies from denying coverage to people with pre-existing medical conditions and requires more businesses to offer employee benefits. Proponents of the bill say it'll reduce the federal deficit by $143 billion over 10 years.
