Kids! You gotta love 'em
Before my Mother left for Heaven, she told me "If you always want to hear the truth...ask someone under eight or over eighty." I was fortunate enough to come from a big family. I have four brothers and two sisters. This brings along many nieces and nephews, followed by cousins in the next generation. I hope you will be entertained by some of the comments from my family. Some young..some older.

SPLOST to benefit Pike County most
Pike County will take the largest share when the proceeds of the proposed SPLOST are divided.
The Pike County Board of Commissioners is filling in details of the referendum that will eventually go before voters on the November ballot. At a workshop session Tuesday, June 2, commissioners decided how the SPLOST money will be divided among the county and municipalities, and commissioners selected the projects that the county's share of the SPLOST proceeds will fund.
The commissioners are expected to take official action on those matters at the meeting set for Wednesday, June 10. [Full story »]

The can from China
I was buying food the other day at the country market. On the label of some products it said 'from China'. For example the "Our Family" brand of the mandarin oranges says right on the can 'from China'.

I had a long “to do” list last week before leaving for Afghanistan – visit family and friends, go to the bank, clean out the frig, etc. After nearly two weeks of scratching things off, I finally came to the last item – going to spend time with John Edward. It’s always the last thing I do before I go away. The reason it’s always the last thing I do is because it’s always the hardest. [Full story »]
