A case that is yet to be decided by the Georgia Supreme Court was also heard in the Pike County courthouse during the first day of court in the newly renovated courtroom. The local case will likely be decided by near the end of the current Supreme Court term, which ends July 16.
Superior Court Judge Tommy Hankinson presided over the case of Robert E. Adams Jr. versus Jim Brooks here March 8, with hearings held early in the morning and in the early afternoon. He ruled that to be fair to all parties – including voters who cast their vote in the election contested as illegal by Adams – he would allow Brooks’ defense 30 days to answer a writ of quo warranto filed against Brooks.
