Actually I would like that link also. The AARP provides many benefits and to drop out would be very serious. I am sure that 200000 drop out every year for various reasons(death, being place in retirement homes, dimentia), but also that many people join each year also (come of age, etc.)

So thats 1/2 percent of the total number of overall members (40 million). Wow. How will they ever stay in business.

AARP discriminates against seniors between 55 and 65 and have for many years. They want our membership fee but offer no help with Medical Plans.

I dropped out of AARP years ago when I realized they were nothing but a left leaning, Hollywood loving, Quasi Democrat Party loving organization. I refused to send them another dime when President Bush tried to correct some problems with Social Security (letting people who pay in, own part of their own retirement fund) and the AARP screamed blody murder saying he was trying to destroy Social Security.

He was attempting to privatize Social Security. And since the economy tanked, Im glad it did not happen. Too much greed within the private sector.

What we must understand is the mindset of those who want to protect social security from privatization. If you privatize it and that money actually belongs to the person paying it in, it can not be used to buy votes. Also the people who make good decisions will get richer and the others will not.... heaven forbid people should be awarded for making good decisions with their money.... we all know you need to punish those greedy people. I hope you can see the sarcasm. I am just one of those people who realize that there is no way I will get any return on the money that I give to social security every week.
